College & Careers 2017
High school students: Come experience college life
Published Jul. 12, 2017
Choosing a career path can be a challenge. But at Rochester Institute of Technology, an annual event helps open doors for high school students looking for guidance in making decisions about college programs and majors.
RIT’s 27th annual College & Careers program, which draws high school students from across the country, gives rising seniors the opportunity to explore career options through interactive academic sessions featuring activities, demonstrations and discussions with RIT students and faculty, along with campus tours and more. Students can attend sessions in a wide range of categories, all designed around their areas of interest. Sessions are available in categories such as art, design and crafts; business and management; communications; computing and information sciences; engineering and engineering technology; environmental studies; photography and film; social sciences and the humanities; and mathematics and the medical sciences. A series of undeclared options for those with more than one interest are also available.
Participating students will also experience campus life. They stay in residence halls, eat in campus cafeterias and participate in social activities with other college-bound seniors over two days. The program also includes a separate, optional program for parents, which focuses on the college search process, financial aid and more.
College & Careers will be held on July 21-22 (register by July 14) and Aug. 4-5 (register by July 28). Students can choose from among 70 academic workshops within a wide range of career categories. Cost is $145 (which includes sessions, meals, and overnight accommodations) or $135 (for program and meals only). For more information or to register, visit www.rit.edu/emcs/admissions/careers.
