The INFORMS Simulation Society Research Workshop is a forum for researchers to exchange ideas and results and to discuss new developments in the simulation of stochastic process and discrete-event systems.

The goal of the workshop is to bring together leading researchers working in a variety of theoretical, empirical, application and implementation domains in order to reflect on a central theme: Simulation: At the Interface of Modeling and Analysis. More specifically, the topics include the following:

Identifying innovative methods to significantly advance the use simulation for decision making though the interface of modeling and analysis.

Identifying and discussing the strengths and limitations of existing simulation techniques in terms of both modeling and analysis capabilities.

Promoting the interaction between the simulation modeling research and the simulation analysis research communities

Discussing the role of sensitivity analysis, uncertainty analysis, the robustness of decisions to modeling assumptions, implementation issues, and special considerations that arise in specific applications.

Addressing practical, statistical, and computational performance aspects of integrated modeling and analysis methods and research areas.

Identifying the modeling and analysis demands are placed on existing simulation tools that are used in a variety of applications.

Proposing collaborative research methods and strategies to address gaps in existing simulation software that could be jointly addressed by the two communities.
