RIT Service Week 2018
As we celebrate acts of service this week, we take a look back on how Service Week all started and the impact its made here at #RIT!
Three years ago, Service Week was completely student-run by those who wanted to do more for their communities. #RIT student Kaleigh Sweeney, class of 2017, brought together a group of students who were willing to host three events on campus. The year after, the number of events doubled, and the RIT Center for Leadership and Civic Engagement then stepped in. The CLCE's contribution and dedication aimed to bring the event up to a much larger scale.
Collaboration with Student Government, Into the Roc, Habitat for Humanity, and the College Activities Board has also assisted in creating a wider range of events that every kind of student could get involved with. 2018 marks the third year since Service Week started, with 20 events occuring all week long on the #RIT campus. Fourth-year student Dan Grinthal currently works with the CLCE to coordinate Service Week events, and encourages students to bring forth their service project ideas for next year. See a full interview with Dan here!
Service Week is full of diverse opportunities offered by #RIT clubs and organizations. Any student can learn how to make a difference and a lasting impact on a worldwide scale.
