Celebrating 20 years of theatre at RIT!
Join RIT Players for a weekend full of activities and fun as they celebrate 20 years of theatre as a club! Over the years, RIT Players has produced an incredible amount of completely student run main stage, variety, and smaller shows, including two 24 hour shows! Students are responsible for everything you see on stage and behind the scenes, from directing and acting to building the set and running spotlights. All to create amazing shows for students and families alike to enjoy!
Some notable productions of the club include Evil Dead, All Shook Up, Urinetown, Clue, and The Laramie Project. Most recently was this semester’s production of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, a hilarious musical comedy about six quirky spelling bee contestants singing and dancing through their many challenges of childhood as they try to top their competition. The show was filled with plenty of humor, catchy songs, and even some audience participation! If you couldn't make it to this show, keep an eye out for next year's productions, there's sure to be something you won't want to miss!
The 24 Hour Show also occurred during the RIT Players Anniversary weekend, which featured both students and alumni to celebrate their 20 years. Together, they performed a collection of skits completely written, directed, casted, and rehearsed in just the 24 hours before the show was performed! The weekend was fun for all, while showcasing all the RIT Players are about! But no worries if you missed their anniversary weekend, because the Variety Show is coming up on May 12 from 7-10 pm, featuring any talents from dancing to magic. Audition on April 30th, or just stop by to watch the show!
