Meet the Staff

Deanna LaManna - Director

Deanna joined Margaret's House in January 2016. She has a B.A. in Child and Family Studies and an M.A. in Psychology. She has been conducting preschool classroom observations throughout the City of Rochester since 2013 for The Children's Institute and throughout Upstate New York for QUALITYstarsNY. Deanna's previous work experience also includes being the Early Head Start Education and Disabilities Specialist for an ABC Head Start center, and the Infant and Toddler Education Manager at Volunteers of America Children's Center.

Deanna and her husband have 4 children. She loves sharing good food and long conversations with family and friends. Her passions include music, reading, and writing.

Courtney Bossie - Assistant Director

Courtney has been with Margaret's House since July 2017. She has a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology and Early Childhood Education, a Master's in Education in Elementary Reading and Math and her New York State Teaching Certificate in Early Childhood Education (Birth — 2nd). Prior to joining our team, Courtney was a preschool teacher in rural and urban areas, a substitute teacher for various school districts and an After-School Program Manager. Since moving to Rochester, she has been an Education and Disabilities Specialist for Action for a Better Community, an EPK classroom teacher and Education Coordinator, and a Director at Storybook Child Care in Henrietta. Courtney, her fiancé and his daughter, love spending time outdoors and with family. Her passions include baking, knitting and reading.

Marjorie Henderson - Financial Assistant

Marjorie joined Margaret's House in February 2016. She has a Bachelor's degree from RIT in Applied Arts & Sciences and is currently pursuing a second Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts and Interior Design. Marjorie works part-time and enjoys the early childhood education setting. She says, "love the smiles, hugs, and watching them learn and grow. When they say my name for the first time, it makes my day."

Julie Pitcher - Infant/Toddler Teacher

Julie has worked in the field of childcare for over 20 years. She graduated from Genesse Community College with a degree in Human Servies. She started at Margaret's House in 1996 and loves watching the children grow. Julie loves camping, cross stitching and photography.

Jennifer Tills - Infant/Toddler Teacher

Jennifer holds a BA from Potsdam University. She has worked with children for over 10 years. She enjoys playing with her dogs and reading with her children.

She loves sharing hugs and smiles and is always singing with the babies.

Judy Blachowicz - Infant/Toddler Teacher

Judy has worked in childcare for many years. She has a BS in Sacred Music and teaches piano lessons and directs her church choir. Judy started at Margaret's House in 2002. She loves the hugs and kisses and the beginnings of language that she sees in her classroom. Judy has two grown sons and she enjoys gardening, quilting, baking and reading.

Penny Kellaway - Infant/Toddler Teacher

Penny joined us at Margret's House in August of 2009. She has her CDA in Infant/Toddler and has been working in Childcare for 18 years. Penny loves to bake and gardening and also enjoys camping.

Juliette Brookes - Infant/Toddler Teacher

Juliette joined Margaret's House as a substitute Teacher in July of 2007 and became a member of the staff in August of 2009. She is an alumnus of Gallaudet Univeristy. Juliette currently is working on her CDA in INfant/Toddler Education. She has two daugters and loves Reggae music.

Denise Speicher - Infant/Toddler Teacher

Denise has worked with children for 20 years. She has a degree from the University of Alabama and her CDA in Infant/Toddler. She started at Margaret's House in 1996 and loves to help the children learn language and learn through play. Denise has two grown daughters. She enjoys walking outside with her husband and their two dogs.

Karin Petersen - Infant/Toddler Teacher

Karin has worked with children for many years. She has an AA in Human Services and a BS in Elementary Education /Physical Handicapped. Karin started at Margaret's House in 2002. She loves to sing fun songs and do fingerplays that promote interest and enthusiasm. She loves baking, gardening, reading and doing puzzles.

Ana Ambrosio - Infant/Toddler Teacher

Ana is originally from Portugal. She has worked with children for many years and has been at Margaret's House since 1996. Ana has a son who is a dental student. She loves to travel and spend time with friends.

Tara Garcia - Infant/Toddler Teacher

Tara has been with Margaret's House since September 2017. She has an Associate's Degree and has completed all of the necessary coursework for her Infant/Toddler Child Development Associate certification. Tara joined Margaret's House with over 8 years of experience in the field of Early Childhood Education. She has one child and they enjoy playing outside, sports, hiking and throwing stones in the water.

Danyell Voss - Infant/Toddler Teacher

Danyell joined the staff at Margaret's House in August of 2009. She is currently working on her CDA. Danyell loves to read and spend time with friends and family. She has been working with children for several years and loves that everyday they show her new things!

BethAnn Acoff - Infant/Toddler Teacher

BethAnn has been with Margaret’s House since 2014. She began as one of our substitute teachers and was offered a full-time position at our center in January 2017. Prior to joining our team, BethAnn had worked with children for over 13 years. She has a Bachelor's Degree in Biology from Buffalo State College and is currently pursuing her certification as an Infant/Toddler Child Development Associate.

Laura Steffey - Preschool Teacher

Laura joined us in September of 2008 but has been at RIT since 2000 teaching figure skating in the LEarn to Skate Program and for the Dept. of Athletics. She has a Masters degree from the UofR in Childhood Education and Special Ed Inclusion and a BA in political science and dance from Potsdam. Laura enjoys figure skating, hiking, gardening and of course her dog Maggie.

Kristine MacDonald - Preschool Teacher

Kristine joined us in 2011. She worked for seven years at little Wonders Childcare in Albion and was a stay at home Mom for several years previous to that. She earned her Early Childhood Education Certificate through GCC and is currently finishing a Liberal Arts and Science with Teacher Transfer degree at GCC. Kristine enjoys interacting with the children and communicating with the parents. She also enjoys phtography and arts and crafts.

Susan Northrup - Preschool Teacher

Sue has worked with children for many, many years. She has her Masters in Elementary Education, a BS in Psychology and an AAS in Human Services. Sue started at Margaret's House in 1997 with the Lil Kids on Campus program. She has worked with 3 and 4 year olds and is currently our Kindergarten teacher. She loves that every day here is new and exciting. Sue has four grown children and one grandchild and loves to spend time with her family.

Ashley Moucha-Darcy - Preschool Teacher

Ashley has been with Margaret's House since January 2017. She has her certification as a Preschool Child Development Associate. Ashley joined Margaret's House with over 12 years of experience in the field of early childhood education. Ashley is married to her husband Sean. They have two dogs named Jack and Koda. They love to spend time together outdoors.

Linda Cohen - Substitute Teacher

Linda has been with Margaret's House since June 2017. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design from RIT, and is currently pursuing her certification as a Child Development Associate. Prior to joining our team, Linda had worked with children for over twelve years. Linda says, "It's rewarding and they give me a reason to smile every day," when asked what she loves most about working with children. Linda has a 10 year old son, Daniel. In her free time she likes to spend time with family, scrapbooking, and baking.

Maureen Lathan-Thompson - Substitute Teacher

Maureen has been working at Margaret's House since 2002. Although she left for a period of time, she returned in 2014 and is currently one of our substitute teachers. Maureen studied Early Childhood and Elementary Education through Boston College, and is also a Nationally Certified Phlebotomist. Prior to rejoining our team, Maureen worked with children for many years and has over 30 year of experience with young children. Maureen says she loves, "their innocence, curiosity, and zest for learning. Their smile and hugs brighten my day." Maureen is married and have 4 children. Her family loves to go horseback riding, figure skate, play soccer, go to the theater and raise dogs.

Jean Flory - Substitute Teacher

Jean has been with Margaret's House since 2011. She has a teaching certification for Preschool through Elementary. Prior to joining Margaret's House, Jean has always worked with children in a school setting. When asked what she loves most about working with children, Jean stated that she loves "reading, playing, singing, talking and watching them grow and develop new skills." Jean has been married for 45 years to her husband Dominic and has three grown children. She loves to read and spend time outdoors, with family and friends, and travel to other parts of the country.

Gina Arieno - Cook

Gina has worked in food service for 25 years. She has been at Margaret's House since March of 2010. She lives in Chili with her husband and three active children. Gina loves children, eating out at restaurants, walking and biking with her family.
