Check-in and Registration

New first year students are automatically pre-registered for Orientation, but it is necessary to check in on Tuesday, August 20th between 9:00am - 6:00pm, so that you can pick up your final Orientation schedule, t-shirt, and other important materials.

Residential students: Students living in the residence halls, and their families, should check in at the Welcome Centers that correspond with their move-in tag colors.  More information will be provided about the specific locations upon your arrival to campus.

Commuter students: Check-in for commuter students and their families will be located in G Lot on Tuesday, August 20th, 2019.  If you are unable to check in on Tuesday, August 20th, late check in will be available on Wednesday, August 21st, 2019 in the Campus Center (main floor).

Parking Your Vehicles on Move-In Day

  • Residential students: if you are moving into the residence halls on move-in day, please follow the directions of Public Safety staff to the color-coded move-in staging areas. You should also refer to the housing portal, for detailed instructions regarding the move-in process.
  • First year students bringing vehicles to stay on campus for the year: park in Lot B (after unloading your belongings at the residence hall).
  • Commuter students: park in Lot G
  • Families: park in Lots E, F,or H (after unloading your student’s belongings at the residence hall).

Shuttle buses will be running throughout campus from 8 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. to assist families and students. The route will include the Gleason Circle (behind the Wallace Library), the residence halls, and the parking lots. Shuttles run a continuous loop and stop at designated locations. Shuttles will run to Barnes & Noble @ RIT from the residence halls (lot C) and Gleason Circle (behind the Wallace Library) from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.  For a full schedule, please view here.

Accessibility Carts

Orientation staff will operate golf carts to assist individuals with special needs only. Wheelchairs are not available on campus but can be rented in the Rochester area from Monroe Wheelchair or Southside Medical Supply.
