  1. You will receive an account activation email from RIT when your enrollment deposit has been received and posted to our system.  Please allow 1-2 business days  for deposit payment processing.  The account activation email will go to the email address supplied on your admissions application.  If you need assistance, please contact the ITS Service Desk at

If you have created an account as part of the RIT admissions process, this same account becomes your student account upon payment of your tuition deposit.  If you did not create an account as part of the admissions process, you will receive an email with instructions to activate your computer account once you have paid your tuition deposit.   3. Authorize up to three people to receive eBill notifications and have access to food or Tiger Bucks balances, course schedules, and grades. Sign up at

  4. If you want to live in RIT housing, you must submit your housing contract online at

  5. New York State law mandates that all college students provide proof of vaccinations. Make sure you are up to date on your immunizations and send in your completed forms to the Student Health Center. Go to for more information and to access the forms. Get your forms in early and you may be eligible for a prize! See the Student Health Center page for more info.

  6. You will be notified if you are required to take the MPE – not all students are required to take this exam, so if you are not notified you do not have to take the exam. This exam is available online from May 15 through the month of June only. More info is available at

Follow these instructions to learn how to provide your academic program with the transcripts and college credit they will need to put together your fall semester class schedule.  Contact the College Board at to request your AP scores.   8. Student Financial Services has information on fee rates, billing, payment options, loan repayment, and educational tax credit. Their online billing site provides real-time account inquiry and electronic payment for tuition/fees and Tiger Bucks. Learn more at

  9. Get information on loans and scholarships and find out who your Financial Aid Counselor is. You are assigned a Financial Aid Counselor based on your academic program. Online help is available from the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships at

  10. The Disability Services Office provides students with disabilities equal access to programs, services, and physical facilities. A Request for Accommodations form is available at

  11. Although there are ample alternative options, if you are bringing a vehicle with you to campus, you are required to register it upon arrival. Register online 

  12. All students are required to have an RIT University ID Card. Your UID Card provides you access to your residence hall, labs, libraries, meals, campus events, and more. If you’re in the Rochester area,  you can get your card at the Office of the Registrar in Eastman Hall (EAS). Find more information at

  13. Find your college’s website at and learn more about your program and course requirements. Please be sure to look at your academic program's checklist to ensure you are taking care of everything you need before you come to Orientation in August. 

  14. You will be required to provide a photo ID (license, passport) to obtain a bank account, University ID Card. Additionally, you will need a social security card to obtain a Employment Eligibility Card. Come prepared.

  15. If you are a National Technical Institute for the Deaf (NTID) supported BS student, you are required to attend the NSSO workshops, detailed on the next page.

  16. On the Housing Operations website you’ll find comprehensive lists of what to bring (and what NOT to bring) when you move in to the residence halls, apartments, suites, the RIT Inn, or Global Village. Hint: fish are allowed; flames are not. Also be sure to pack required forms of identification. You will be required to provide a photo ID to obtain a bank account, University ID Card and Employment Eligibility Card. Come prepared.
