Prepare Your Student
Student Class Schedules
In mid-July, academic departments register all incoming students for fall term classes. Students will be able to access their preliminary schedules at the end of July by logging into the Student Information System (SIS). Schedules will be adjusted as official Advanced Placement (AP) scores, official college transcripts, and RIT placement test scores are received.
If your student has a question about their schedule, they can reach out to their academic adviser when schedules are released. They can find the name and contact information of their adviser on SIS.
RIT ID Cards
Students can speed up the ID card process by submitting their ID photo now. Incoming students will receive their IDs during campus move-in (if they have uploaded a photo prior to August 21).
Parent Access to Student Accounts
You may be used to managing your students accounts, but college is the perfect time to support your student with reminders and tips rather than you having direct access. There are certain parts of their account, however, that you may need access to. Students can authorize parent access to aspects of their accounts, including the bill, through eServices. Through third-party access, you will be able to log in to eServices using your own RIT username and password to view the information to which your student granted you access.

RIT expects all students to have health insurance. If your student will use a family plan, please contact the company to determine what coverage your student has in Rochester (many companies have limited out-of-network coverage). RIT offers a robust student health insurance plan with an expansive provider network across the U.S. and out-of-network benefits for students who will not be on a family plan.
The Disability Services Office provides students with disabilities equal access to programs, services, and physical facilities. Students who need accommodations should fill out the Request for Accommodations form on the DSO website this summer.
