2019 Family Orientation Schedule

Orientation programming for families is on August 20-21. The schedules below are for these two days; for the full student schedule (August 20-25), please visit the Orientation website

Students participating in the Honors, WiC, or WE're in Motion programs will move in on Monday, August 19.

Tuesday, August 20

Check-In 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Gordon Field House and Activities Center (GOR)   Students & Families Students check into Orientation.
Resource Fair 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Gordon Field House and Activities Center (GOR) Students & Families The Resource Fair allows new students and their families to get their questions answered, meet with staff members, and get information regarding the resources and services available at RIT and in the community.
Disability Services Open Hours 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Student Alumni Union (SAU), Room 1150 Students & Families Staff is available to meet with students who qualify for disability services and their families to discuss the process for requesting and using adjustments and modifications.
Financial Aid & Scholarships Open Hours 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Bausch & Lomb Center (BLC) Students & Families Financial aid counselors will be available to answer questions about your student’s financial aid package in the office.
Student Financial Services Open Hours 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. University Services Center (USC) first floor Students & Families Student Financial Services staff is available to answer questions about tuition, fees, and payments in the office and during the Resource Fair.
Service Highlights 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Student Alumni Union (SAU), Ingle Auditorium  Students & Families Learn about the variety of resources and student support we have at RIT with our 15 minute presentations that will be on rotation this entire time.
Goodbye, Goodbuy! 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Frank Ritter Arena (RIA) Students & Families Furnish your student’s residence hall room at incredibly low prices with reclaimed goods at this thrift sale.
Welcome Picnic 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Gordon Field House and Activities Center (GOR) - Outside Students & Families Try portioned dishes from our RIT Visiting Chefs. Tickets will be available for pre-order this summer. (Note: all diners over 12, including your RIT student, must have a ticket.)
Becoming an RIT Parent 7-8:30 p.m. Gordon Field House (GOR) Families Parenting a college student will be a new experience, and we’re here to help you make the transition! Join the Director of Parent & Family Programs and a team of students to learn how to best support your Tiger.
Residence Life Floor Meetings 7-8:30 p.m. Residence Halls Students Students will meet with their Resident Advisor (RA). 
Off-Campus & Commuter Services Meeting 7-8:30 p.m. Campus Center (CPC), Room 2610 & 2650 (Bamboo Rooms) Students Commuter students will learn all about the services offered by OCCS and have dinner with fellow commuters.
Parent Happy Hour 8:30-10 p.m. Student Alumni Union (SAU), RITZ Sports Zone Families Grab a drink or coffee, meet other new Tiger parents and relax after your long day! (no formal programming—just meet, mingle, and hang out.)
Late Night Activities 9-11 p.m. Various locations Students Fun activities for students on their first night at RIT.

Meet your Orientation Leaders 8-9:30 a.m. Quidditch Field Students Students will meet their OL-who will be guiding them through Orientation-for the first time.
Class Picture 9:30 a.m. Tiger Stadium Students Students will celebrate the start of their college careers with a class photo. 
Coffee with the Colleges 8:30-10 a.m.  Various by College Families Meet staff from your student's college and learn about their academic life at RIT.

Tiger Walk and Convocation 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Gordon Field House (GOR) Students and Families Grab a spot in Gordon Field House and celebrate the beginning of a new year as faculty and staff formally welcome your student to the RIT family.
Ice Cream Social 12:30-1:30 p.m. Gordon Field House (GOR)-outside Students and Families Grab a sweet treat on your way out of Convocation. 
Target Run 12:30-6 p.m. TBD Students and Families Grab a bus to Target to pick up any last-minute items
Lunch 12:30-2 p.m. On your own Students and Families Enjoy dining options on campus or head into Henrietta. Run needed errands or relax!
Math Placement Exam (MPE) 2-4 p.m. TBD Students Students were notified this summer if they must take the MPE.
Dinner 4-6 p.m. Various locations Students Students will meet their OLs and continue on with Orientation programming. Please say your goodbyes by 4 p.m. so your student can begin their RIT journey!
