Thanksgiving, Finals and Winter Break Guide

We want to wish the RIT community a happy and healthy holiday season!

The university will be closed beginning at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 25, and will reopen on Monday, Nov. 30 for the Thanksgiving holiday. RIT will again close at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 24, and will reopen on Monday, Jan. 4.

The Department of Public Safety will remain open 24/7 and can be reached at 585-475-3333 or via text at 585-205-8333. For emergencies, please call 911.

Thanksgiving Break
The Gordon Field House & Activities Center and the Hale-Andrews Student Life Center will close at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 25 and will re-open at 12 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 30.

Final Exams and Winter Break
Recreation facilities will be open with modified hours throughout the final exam period and Winter Break. The Gordon Field House & Activities Center and the Hale-Andrews Student Life Center will be closed from Thursday, Dec. 24 through Monday, Jan. 4. Students using recreation facilities are required to complete the Daily Health Screen prior to arrival.

To limit the spread of the COVID-19 and protect our community, Wallace Library occupancy will be capped at reduced levels to ensure appropriate social distancing. Access will be restricted to the RIT community – no visitors or guests permitted.

Thanksgiving Break
The Academic Success Center will be closed beginning at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2020, and will re-open for normal business hours on Monday, Nov. 30, 2020.

Final Exams
The Academic Success Center will maintain in-person and remote services during final exams through Friday, Dec. 11, 2020.

Winter Break
Starting Monday, Dec. 14, 2020, all Academic Success Center services will be offered remotely. The office will be closed from Thursday, Dec. 24, 2020 at 2 p.m. through Monday, Jan. 4, 2021.

Winter Break
The Counseling and Psychological Services office will be closed beginning at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 24, 2020 and will re-open for normal business hours on Monday, Jan. 4, 2020 with service offerings based on location and individual need. Thanksgiving Break
The International Student Services office will be closed beginning at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2020 and will re-open for normal business hours on Monday, Nov. 30, 2020. 

Final Exams
Starting on Monday, Nov. 30, in-person open office hours will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. All International Student Services staff will be available to provide remote support via Zoom, email, and phone. 

Winter Break

The International Student Services office will be closed beginning at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 24, 2020 and will re-open for normal business hours on Monday, Jan. 4, 2021. Beginning Monday, Jan. 11, 2021, on-campus office hours will be available five days a week, Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Outside of the posted hours or in the event of an emergency, students can reach the staff in the Residence Life by calling Public Safety at 585-475-3333.

Adjusted bus schedules can be found on the Parking and Transportation websiteStudents are encouraged to use the TransLoc app to track RIT shuttles in real-time.  TransLoc also provides updates in case of any emergency or weather situation.

During the Winter Break, students with valid Residential Permits can park in any General spaces on campus. Parking rules and regulations will be enforced. 

Students with valid parking permits are allowed to leave their vehicle on campus in the areas covered by their permit over the Winter Break.

Student Government, in collaboration with Parking and Transportation, will provide a free shuttle service to the Rochester International Airport, the New York Trailways Bus Station, and the Louise M. Slaughter Amtrak Station. This shuttle service will run on an hourly loop starting at F-lot (in front of the Carlson Center for Imaging Science) and will run Tuesday, Nov. 24 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Wednesday, Nov. 25 from 6 a.m.-1 p.m. Due to social distancing guidelines, you will need to sign up ahead of time and reserve a spot on the bus. Be sure to show up 10 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time.

Winter Break Circulation

Daily Health Screen

If you plan to stay on campus during break and plan to circulate on campus at any point, you are required to complete the Daily Health Screen every day throughout the Winter Break.

Travel

If you choose to travel at any point, you are required to follow the NYS Travel Guidelines before returning to circulate on campus.
