    New season of FIRST Robotics begins Jan. 6

    More than 3,500 teams from around the world will be part of the 2018 FIRST Robotics Kick Off, viewing a live, worldwide telecast at 10:30 a.m. Jan. 6. The Finger Lakes Regional competition takes place March 16-17 at the Gordon Field House.

    For the past 10 years, RIT student-athletes and library staff have been helping young City of Rochester students learn to read as part of the READ: Hope in Action program. The 10th annual Giant Read, the program’s signature event, will bring more than 40 of these volunteers together on Friday.

    RIT’s Women in Computing and Women in Engineering programs were honored with the Commitment to Excellence Award from the Girl Scouts of Western New York for their dedication to encouraging young girls to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and math.
