RIT Press, Memorial Art Gallery celebrate Judith Schaechter’s stained-glass art
Contemporary stained glass panels with edgy narratives and unapologetic heroines are the subject of a major exhibition at the Memorial Art Gallery and its companion catalogue published by RIT Press. "The Path to Paradise: Judith Schaechter’s Stained-Glass Art" celebrates the first survey and major assessment of the artist’s nearly 40-year career.

Artists with deep roots in De’VIA art movement featured at RIT/NTID Dyer Arts Center
Bright reds, blues and yellows, displayed alongside stark black-and-white linocut prints are the trademarks of the latest exhibit at the NTID’s Dyer Arts Center. “20/20: A Two Person Show,” running through Feb. 22, features the eye-catching works of artists Nancy Rourke and David Call, two artists with deep roots in the De’VIA (Deaf View Image Art) art movement.

Roger Remington, the Vignelli Distinguished Professor of Design, to retire in May
R. Roger Remington, RIT’s longest-serving faculty member, will retire in May after 57 years at the university. In addition to building a nationally recognized graphic design program in the College of Art and Design, Remington transformed RIT into an international archival resource for design, earning many of the industry’s most distinguished awards along the way.

RIT Esports takes on RIT Public Safety in friendly ‘Call of Duty’ match Nov. 23
Members of RIT Esports and Public Safety are answering the “Call of Duty” to raise money for mental health awareness Nov. 23. The RIT Esports Call of Duty team will compete against members of RIT Public Safety in a two vs. two tournament of the video game. Ticket proceeds will support the office of Counseling and Psychological Services.

RIT offers film and photography, music, belly dancing and ukuleles at this year’s Fringe Festival
RIT students, faculty, staff and Osher members are part of the 12-day lineup of more than 570 eclectic performances during the KeyBank Rochester Fringe Festival. The festival is a celebration of the performing and visual arts in more than 30 venues in downtown Rochester, featuring world-renowned performers as well as up-and-comers.

Longtime RIT instructor John Dodd receives outstanding teaching award
John Dodd, an instructor in RIT’s College of Art and Design for more than 40 years, is the sixth recipient of the Edline M. Chun Award for Outstanding Teaching and Service. The award, named in honor of the late RIT adjunct professor Edline Chun, has been given annually since 2014 to a faculty member who exemplifies excellence and dedication in teaching to an affiliated school in the College of Art and Design.
