RIT’s CyberCorps cybersecurity scholarship program renewed by NSF grant
RIT will use a $5.5 million federal grant to grow a program that trains the next generation of cybersecurity professionals who will help secure the nation. The National Science Foundation awarded RIT the five-year grant that will renew funding for the CyberCorps: Scholars for Service program.

Livingston County students awarded Saunders College endowed scholarships to attend RIT
Brittney Teed and Mitchell Hitchcock, seniors at Livonia High School, and Maggie Dempsey, a senior at Avon High School, are recipients of this year’s annual E. Philip Saunders Endowed Business Scholarship at RIT. The students have been accepted at RIT’s Saunders College of Business where they will begin classes in the fall.

RIT’s Center for Urban Entrepreneurship, City of Rochester partnership receives funding
RIT’s Center for Urban Entrepreneurship, in partnership with Rochester Economic Development Corp., has received $137,500 in funding from J.P. Morgan Chase Bank to help build an entrepreneurial ecosystem that will benefit small-business owners and residents of the City of Rochester. The funding is part of a larger $400,000 gift from Chase Bank to the City of Rochester.

Mahany Welding Supply donated two gas metal arc welding cells and two gas tungsten arc welding cells to be used within an advanced manufacturing degree program in RIT’s College of Engineering Technology to provide needed workforce skills.

No longer lost in translation: Videos depicting complex scientific concepts break barriers for deaf STEM students
Research has revealed that people who learn English as a second language, including deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals, are underrepresented in STEM fields because of academic language abilities required to compete in those disciplines. A new project at NTID is helping to break down those obstacles specifically for deaf and hard-of-hearing people.
