RIT Global

Students typically take a minimum of 12 credits (4 courses) during their academic semester abroad.  Your department advisor can review and pre-approve the RIT courses offered to ensure that you stay on track with your individual degree program.  The academic calendar follows the RIT calendar, and consists of 2 semesters, each 16 weeks long.

Courses focus on critical thinking, decision-making, communication and leadership – all the skills necessary for success in today’s global work environment.  The teaching methods promote interaction and active participation between students and faculty.  Study abroad students are encouraged to get involved with activities outside of the classroom to immerse themselves in their new environment and provide additional cultural learning.

Courses for the academic year are available in the following areas of study:

  • Computing Security
  • Renewable Energy Systems
  • Mathematics for Engineers
  • Random Signals and Noise
  • Advanced Computational Techniques
  • Fuel Cell Technology
  • Islamic Culture
  • Emerging Network Technology
  • Corporate Finance
  • Principles of Marketing

  • Strategic Process of Service Firms
  • Macroeconomics
  • Math, Science and Liberal Arts

The course descriptions for classes offered at RIT Dubai can be found on RIT SIS. To display the course offerings, change the location at the bottom of the search page to the appropriate campus. The course offerings for the Global Campuses are typically released later than the course offerings for RIT Rochester. However, the course offerings are fairly consistent from year to year, so it is appropriate to use the previous year’s course offerings as a tentative list.

Students studying abroad at an RIT Global Campus will be registered for their courses by the RIT Education Abroad Office (you are not able to register yourself for Global Campus courses in SIS). You will work with your study abroad advisor on how to find available courses and complete the Global Campus Course Selection form. The RIT Education Abroad Office uses the Course Selection Form to register you for your chosen courses abroad.
