Dr. John Dayton
About
Professor Dayton holds a bachelor's degree in Classics from Princeton University and a Ph.D. in Classics from Brown University. He has taught history, literature, and Greek, Latin, and English courses at a number of universities in the US, Canada, and Europe, including Indiana University, the University of Calgary, and the American University in Bosnia & Herzegovina. An authority on the convention of warfare in ancient Greece and Rome, he is the author of "'The Athletes of War': An Evaluation of the Agonistic Elements in Greek Warfare" (Toronto: Edgar Kent, 2006) as well as several academic papers. He has been an invited speaker at Tbilisi State University and the Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy.
He was a Fellow of the American School of Classical Studies at Athens and is a member of the American Philological Association. He plays violin in the Dubai Chamber Orchestra.
