Call for Presenters

The 2024 Summer Institute on Teaching and Learning, in conjunction with the AI Symposium, invites faculty members to participate as presenters at our upcoming event scheduled for May 14-16, 2024. This year's theme is "Teaching the 21st Century Student," and will focus on innovative pedagogical approaches and strategies to meet the evolving needs of today's learners.

We are seeking faculty presenters who can contribute insights, expertise, and best practices related to the theme. Presenters are encouraged to demonstrate practical applications, share tangible resources, and engage participants in meaningful dialogue and reflection.

Proposals for workshops and a poster session are being accepted from any RIT faculty until Monday, March 25, 2024 at 11:59 PM. Presenters will be confirmed by Friday, March 29. For inquiries or to discuss your participation, please contact ctl@rit.edu for assistance.

Workshop Tracks

Workshops will take place on Tuesday, May 14 and Wednesday, May 15 at 10AM, 11AM, and 1PM. All sessions are 50-minutes, and should include time for discussion/reflection. Workshop session tracks include:

  • Helping Students Succeed (ex: teaching students on autism spectrum, teaching ADD/ADHD students, microaggressions, inclusive teaching practices, alternative learning styles, culture of care)
  • Engaging Learning Experiences (ex: active learning, effective teaching and learning strategies, SHED reflections, tools and techniques, teaching large and small formats)
  • Harnessing New Technologies (ex: teaching with AI, alternative and creative ways to assess student performance, how to utilize the LMS and another technology to improve teaching and learning)

Teaching with AI Poster Session

The “Teaching with AI” poster session will be held on Wednesday, May 15 from 2:00-4:00 PM during the reception. Topics of interest include but are not limited to:

  • Incorporating AI technologies into curriculum and instruction
  • Enhancing student engagement and motivation through AI-driven learning experiences
  • Addressing ethical considerations and biases in AI education
  • Promoting interdisciplinary collaboration and cross-cultural understanding through AI
  • Leveraging AI for personalized learning and adaptive assessment
  • Supporting faculty professional development in AI integration
  • Exploring the impact of AI on student success and retention
  • Designing inclusive and accessible AI-driven educational environments
