The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) manages RIT’s official learning management system, myCourses (Brightspace). We are excited to share that myCourses will undergo an update starting with the Summer 2026 courses!
We recently asked you for feedback on our academic technologies and one clear finding is that there is some frustration with the design and look of myCourses. Based on this feedback, we worked with several RIT faculty focus groups to review possible changes in tandem with a planned vendor refresh.
The three components which will change are the:
- myCourses Site Home Page
- Course Default Home Page
- New Content Experience (previously the Content Tool)
The Course Default Home Page and New Content Experience will apply to Summer 2026 courses when they load into myCourses on March 6, 2026.
All updates will be applied system-wide on May 11, 2026 during the break between active semesters.
The CTL will offer one-on-one meetings, written and video self-guided training materials, and open lab sessions to help you manage this transition to a new look and feel. We think you’ll like the changes!
