Welcome Days

Preparing for your Arrival

Welcome Days are scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 20, and Monday, Aug. 21. All students are required to check in for Orientation at the Gordon Field House and Activities Center on one of the two Welcome Days. You may check-in for Orientation at any time between 9 a.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Information for students living in RIT Housing:
Please review your appointment time in the myLife portal and print your Move-In Dashboard Pass and Luggage Tags the night before you arrive on campus. 

  • If you are living in the Residence Halls, you will enter RIT at the main entrance off Jefferson Road onto Lomb Memorial Drive. Turn right onto Levi Ward Road followed by a left onto William and Mortimer Reynolds Drive and another left into H Lot.

    Upon arrival, you will enter the lane based on your last name to pick up your room key and RIT ID. From there, you’ll be directed to a colored drop zone to complete the move-in process.

  • If you are living at the RIT Inn, please go directly to the RIT Inn at 5257 W. Henrietta Rd, Henrietta, NY 14467 to pick up your key and RIT ID, and complete the move-in process.

Information for students who will not be living in RIT Housing:
If you are not planning to live in RIT Housing, you have the opportunity to check in on either Sunday, Aug. 20, or Monday, Aug. 21, attend the Resource Fair and information sessions, and spend the day learning about RIT at your own pace!

Please avoid the move-in process (map provided above) by entering campus via Wiltsie Drive and parking in one of the following parking lots: A, B, C, or S. View the RIT campus map >

 

Register for Welcome Days Weather Alerts

Important announcements regarding inclement weather emergencies will be communicated through our text alert system.

Text RITORI to 888777 to receive important information and alerts.

Please encourage any family members or friends who will be on campus with you to sign up for weather alerts, as well.

Orientation

Orientation Schedule

Navigate your Orientation journey through the CampusGroups app or by visiting campusgroups.rit.edu on your web browser. 

Follow the instructions below to view the Orientation schedule in the CampusGroups app. 

  1. Download the CampusGroups app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store
  2. Search for and select RIT (Rochester Institute of Technology)
  3. Select RIT Orientation 2023
  4. Select RIT Orientation 2023 Login to log in using your RIT account

If you are viewing the app on an Android device, please note that PDF links within the app, such as the “Meal Schedules” document, will appear as a blank page. To view PDF documents, please exit the CampusGroups app and go to your device downloads/files. The CampusGroups app will display a faint orange bar below the black header showing the status of the download. Please note that this status bar is not always accurate – it is best to check your device downloads/files. If you experience any issues accessing PDF files, please check-in with an Orientation team member and/or report the issue and someone will be in touch to assist you.

 

Orientation Off-Campus Trips

At Orientation, you will have the opportunity to participate in one of two planned off-campus trips. Please review the information below and remember to register for your preferred trip in advance.

A Trip to the Tait Nature Preserve - Saturday, Aug. 26, 2023
Join Outdoor Education for a fun day away from campus at the Tait Preserve! You will have the opportunity to participate in many outdoor activities including canoeing and hiking, or participate in one of two mini-courses: intro to wilderness first aid and camping skills. Lunch will be provided. 

Arrive in Parking Lot C at 9 a.m. The bus will depart at 9:30 a.m. and will return at 4:15 p.m.

Registration opens on Saturday, Aug. 19, and closes on Friday, Aug. 25. You must register in advance to attend.

Tait Preserve

Rochester Red Wings Game - Sunday, Aug. 27, 2023
Join us for a trip to Rochester to enjoy a day at the ballpark! Watch the Red Wings soar to victory over Worcester Red Soxs. RIT will provide transportation and tickets for students. Concessions and food will not be provided by RIT, however you will have the opportunity to purchase anything you’d like upon arrival at the ballpark. 

The first pitch is at 1:05 p.m. Please arrive in Parking Lot C at 11:30 a.m. The bus will depart at 12 p.m. Tickets will be distributed upon arrival at the stadium.

Registration opens on Saturday, Aug. 19, and closes on Saturday, Aug. 26. You must register in advance to attend.
