Welcome Days

Preparing for your Arrival

Welcome Days are scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 20, and Monday, Aug. 21. 

Information for students living in RIT Housing:
Please review your appointment time in the myLife portal and print your Move-In Dashboard Pass and Luggage Tags the night before you arrive on campus. 

• If you are living in the Residence Halls, you will enter RIT at the main entrance off Jefferson Road onto Lomb Memorial Drive. Turn right onto Levi Ward Road followed by a left onto William and Mortimer Reynolds Drive and another left into H Lot.
  
  Upon arrival, you will enter the lane based on your last name to pick up your room key and RIT ID. From there, you’ll be directed to a colored drop zone to complete the move-in process.

• If you are living at the RIT Inn, please go directly to the RIT Inn at 5257 W. Henrietta Rd, Henrietta, NY 14467 to pick up your key and RIT ID, and complete the move-in process.

Information for students who will not be living in RIT Housing:
If you are not planning to live in RIT Housing, you have the opportunity to check in on either Sunday, Aug. 20, or Monday, Aug. 21, attend the Resource Fair and information sessions, and spend the day learning about RIT at your own pace!

Please avoid the move-in process (map provided above) by entering campus via Wiltsie Drive and parking in one of the following parking lots: A, B, C, or S. View the RIT campus map >

Orientation

Transfer Orientation Schedule

All Transfer Students must check in for Transfer Orientation. You may choose to check in at any time on either Welcome Day (Sunday, Aug. 20, or Monday, Aug. 21) in the Gordon Field House and Activities Center. There will also be a check-in table outside of Ingle Auditorium in the Student Alumni Union on Monday, Aug. 21 from 8-9 a.m. for students wishing to check in before the Transfer Welcome program. 

If you plan to arrive on Sunday, Aug. 20, you are welcome to participate in any of the Welcome Days activities before your formal Transfer Orientation program begins on Monday, Aug. 21.

Here is a preview of the Transfer Orientation schedule:

• Transfer Orientation Check-in - 8-9 a.m.
• Transfer Welcome - 9-9:30 a.m.
• Academic Programming - 9:30 a.m.-12 p.m.
• Lunch and Activities - 12-2 p.m.
• Guided Walks to Resource Fair and Fun Zone - 1-3 p.m.
• Resource Fair, Campus Tours, and Informational Programs - 1-5 p.m.
• Welcome to RIT - 7:30-8:30 p.m. 
• Social Programs - 8-11 p.m.        

Students who selected Transfer Orientation Program #2 will continue with their week-long Orientation experience starting on Tuesday, Aug. 22.

Orientation Off-Campus Trips

At Orientation, you will have the opportunity to participate in one of two planned off-campus trips. Please review the information below and remember to register for your preferred trip in advance.

A Trip to the Tait Nature Preserve - Saturday, Aug. 26, 2023
Join Outdoor Education for a fun day away from campus at the Tait Preserve! You will have the opportunity to participate in many outdoor activities including canoeing and hiking, or participate in one of two mini-courses: intro to wilderness first aid and camping skills. Lunch will be provided. 

Rochester Red Wings Game - Sunday, Aug. 27, 2023
Join us for a trip to Rochester to enjoy a day at the ballpark! Watch the Red Wings soar to victory over Worcester Red Soxs. RIT will provide transportation and tickets for students. Concessions and food will not be provided by RIT, however you will have the opportunity to purchase anything you’d like upon arrival at the ballpark.
