February Anxiety Toolbox Workshop

When: February 28, 2025; 12:00 PM – 1:30 PM
Where: Campus Center, Room: CPC-1010/1015

Do you struggle with anxiety like so many of us? Join CaPS provider, Thomas Peechatt, LMHC, in this workshop to learn more about the anxiety you experience and to develop skills for managing it. 

These are single sessions. The session includes a 90 minute workshop and combines 3 focus areas dedicated to understanding anxiety, introducing a method for slowing down and disentangling the experience of anxiety, and developing alternative, healthier responses. By the end of the workshop, you will have the tools to create your own individualized plan for managing anxiety.

Momentum II: Leadership Through the Lens of Community Sustainability

When: February 28, 2025; 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM
Where: SAU, Room: 1829 

In this series, momentum II is an opportunity to learn about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), how they are connected (systems thinking), interact with leaders and organizations actively engaged in working at the intersections of the goals (networking), and reflect on your leadership abilities and how your individual strengths can support or enhance the work being done (leadership development). Furthermore, this series is a partnership with Rochester Ecology Partners. We will be focusing on leadership through the lens of community sustainability and learning about the systems that affect our environment and communities and how we can be better stewards of it.

The complimentary access is a result of an interdisciplinary team of RIT students winning the 2024 Bloomberg Global Trading Challenge last fall. The winning “Tigers Trading” team outlasted 2,453 teams from 396 universities in 46 countries in a 6+ week simulated investing challenge.

The First Gen Forward club supports 1st-generation college students by providing life skills, college success tips, and guidance to campus resources. The club offers a mentorship network. Join by February 28, 2025, to be part of the founding members.

First Gen Forward Club

Are YOU a first-generation college student? Who can I ask for advice if my parents didn't go to college? What resources are available for me? Essentially, this club is to help those transitioning from high school to college, or just life skills and tips to succeed in college, and also guide them to the right resources and organizations on campus. BUT, there's a catch, It is not just students that can be in it, faculty and staff that were previously identified as first-generation students are also welcome to act as mentors to form a support network for a community of "college rookies." Advocates and allies of the first-generation college group are encouraged to join! FGF is open to everyone!

Are you interested in running for Graduate Senator? We are looking for passionate student leaders to take on a variety of roles within the RIT Student Government for the 2025-2026 academic year. As a leader in Student Government, you will advocate for students within your respective constituency.

AWARE-AI NSF Research Traineeship (NRT)

Prospective and current RIT Ph.D. and MS students are welcome to review the benefits of a Traineeship position and how to apply to AWARE-AI by the March 1 application deadline, including for AWARE-AI’s one-year funded fellowships for eligible students in associated computing and information sciences, engineering, psychology, imaging science and mathematics programs. We encourage students to apply prior to their second year of graduate study. AWARE-AI Trainees experience convergent AI research guided by accomplished faculty in research tracks and carefully curated and career-enhancing activities that directly address skill gaps in graduate AI curricula, and develop their network in a research community.
