FreezeFest: Spiritual Symbols, Food, and Culture from Around the World

Where: Student Alumni Union, Fireside Lounge

Come and join Spirituality and Religious Life, the Interfaith Council, and Global Union as the different spiritual and religious staff and student leaders display, highlight, and explain the significance behind their spiritual symbols and iconography, food, and culture! Grab some food from ethnic restaurants around Rochester to sum up the experience, all while learning some interesting facts!

Alm and Fitch awarded NSF grant to study visual prosody in ASL in collaboration with Gallaudet University

Linguists face a resource gap for studying visual prosody and its grammatical and emotional functions in sign languages, and for creating AI systems capable of processing visual prosody. Faculty members affiliated with RIT’s Ph.D. program in Cognitive Science aim to fill that gap through Deaf scientist-centered research.

New Advanced Certificate in Diplomacy and Conflict Management at RIT Kosovo

RIT Kosovo is launching an advanced certificate this year. This is a premier international leadership and peace-building seminar taught by renowned practitioners and academics who have hands-on experience in the United Nations, national governments and militaries, humanitarian organizations, and the private sector. Under-graduate and graduate students are offered courses on peacekeeping, conflict transformation, war, diplomacy, state-building, genocide studies, transitional justice, terrorism, political violence, development economics, and political science practicum/experiential learning. This program will equip students with the necessary skills from a practitioner’s perspective for careers in government, international organizations, think tanks, and academia.

RIT Faculty-Led Study Abroad Program—DIGITAL CREATION ‘BEYOND THE SCREEN’ Summer 2025 

Immerse yourself in Paris's world-renowned arts and cultural heritage and create a digital art project of your own design. Develop your talents in digital literary, artistic, and technological creation through an intensive transnational workshop with the University of Paris-8.

Info Session: February 05, 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM; in Magic Spell Studios (071), MSS-2170 Demo Room.

ENGL 510/610—Transnational Digital Creation. Course will take place during RIT Summer Session I. In Paris, you will spend time working on your digital projects and taking excursions to explore the city's literary, cultural, and artistic sites. Outside of your travel to Paris, the class will meet on four Fridays (10-11:30 am) during Summer Session I. Friday meeting times can be attended in-person or remotely.
