Accomplishments from Saunders Students

  • Annie Hong ’25 (management information systems) completed an internship this past summer as an Operations Analyst Intern with JPMorgan Chase in New York City. She reports that she “had the opportunity to work on KYC [know your customer] due diligence for high-income clients from Latin America.”

  • Ericka Chen ’26 (accounting and management information systems) completed an internship this past summer at the New York Climate Exchange in New York City. This was the first year for the internship program, and Ericka was the first student from RIT to participate.

  • Amanda Bosh,  Ph.D., ‘24 (Executive Online MBA) has been promoted to Executive Director of Lowell Observatory, in Flagstaff, AZ, where she previously served as Chief Operating Officer. States W. Lowell Putnam, Sole Trustee of Lowell Observatory, “We are excited to welcome Amanda as our new Executive Director. Her extensive experience in planetary science, along with her proven leadership as Chief Operating Officer, makes her the ideal candidate to guide the observatory through this next era of discovery and public engagement.”

  • Joshua Michaels ’26 (marketing), Chad Chapman ’27 (computer science), Emmanuel Boakye ’26 (individualized study), and Nemesis Velasquez ’26 (new media interactive development) are the inaugural winners of the Ramsey Family Innovation Award, which provides annual support for a student team each year enrolled in the RIT Student Accelerator program. The team, led by Michaels, developed OnCall, a platform that connects available nurses to nearby healthcare facilities.

  • Chris Soukup ‘25 (Online Executive MBA) published an article, “How Companies Can Use AI to Better Serve Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Customers, ” in Harvard Business Review. Soukup is the CEO of Communication Service for the Deaf (CSD), a pioneer of accessible communication services and technologies for the deaf community for nearly 50 years.

Saunders Faculty and Staff Go Above and Beyond

  • Shubhobrata Palit, Ph.D., joined the Saunders faculty in August as a visiting assistant professor in the department of management. He completed his doctorate in 2021 at the Georgia Institute of Technology.

  • Sriniwas Mahapatro, Ph.D., assistant professor in the department of finance and accounting, has had his research cited in Forbes. In “NVIDIA’s Disclosure Needs To Catch Up With Its Valuation, ” the author cites a paper co-written with Mahapatro and another business professor.

  • Two Saunders College of Business faculty members have been named to endowed professorships. Sean Hansen, Ph.D., professor and chair of the department of MIS, marketing, and analytics, is the E. Philip Saunders Endowed Professor. Chun Keung “Stan” Hoi, Ph.D., professor in the department of finance and accounting, is the Daniel D. Tessoni Endowed Chair in Accounting. Each of these positions is awarded to an outstanding teacher-scholar.

  • Julie Purpura ’10 (hospitality and service management), MS, joined the Saunders faculty in October 2024 as an adjunct professor in the department of international hospitality and service innovation.

  • Nikki Lombardo has joined Saunders Marketing and Communications as a marketing specialist. She is an RIT alumna (School of Individualized Study) and a former student worker with Marketing and Communications. Nikki started in her new position on October 30, 2024.

  • Noah Cherry ’10 (MBA), joined the Executive MBA and Executive Education team as the business development manager. He brings his experience in sales and customer service in the tech space to cultivate growth for custom programs and evolve the executive MBA capstone portfolio.

  • 2025 Fortune MBA Rankings. Saunders College of Business’ MBA program is ranked 91st among the best MBA programs nationally by Fortune. 

  • RIT Student Gives Back Through Photography. Ferdinand Virtudes, a fourth-year management information systems major from Baltimore, initiated a project to offer low-cost photography services to underrepresented and low-income students.

  • Saunders ranked #73 among best business schools by Bloomberg Businessweek. Saunders College of Business was ranked #73 in the U.S. in Bloomberg Businessweek’s annual ranking of the best business schools and MBA programs, 2024-25, up two places from last year.

  • U.S. News & World Report Rankings, 2025. Saunders is ranked 77th overall and 5th in New York State in U.S. News & World Report’s Best Undergraduate Business category for 2025.
