The Center for Teaching and Learning invites you to join us for a two-part series focused on supporting neurodivergent students in higher education. These sessions, led by Makini Beck
and Kendra Evans,
will provide both foundational understanding and practical strategies to help you create more inclusive and accessible learning environments.
Part 1: Understanding Neurodiversity in Higher Education
Monday, October 6, 2025 | 10:00–11:30 am
CTL Faculty Learning Commons, Wallace 05-A600
This session introduces key concepts of neurodiversity and explores the strengths and challenges neurodivergent students may experience in academic settings. Faculty and staff will gain insights into common neurodivergent profiles, barriers to learning, and strategies for fostering a sense of belonging. Part 2: Teaching Strategies for Supporting Neurodivergent Students
Tuesday, October 28, 2025 | 11:30 am–1:00 pm
CTL Faculty Learning Commons, Wallace 05-A600
Building on the first session, this interactive workshop focuses on practical approaches faculty can use to support neurodivergent learners. Participants will explore evidence-based teaching practices, inclusive course design strategies, and communication approaches that enhance student success. Attendees will also have the opportunity to reflect on their own teaching and identify small, high-impact changes they can make to create more accessible and supportive learning environments.
