Victor Santiago
Associate Director, Annual Giving
University Advancement

Hello, everyone!

Some of you may know me from my previous roles where I engaged alumni through reunion programming during Brick City Weekend or volunteer opportunities during the school year. Most recently, I worked with students to help create the Student Alumni Alliance, a group of diverse students who serve as ambassadors within the university’s student and alumni communities. We proudly have over 30 members, with a few of them being current student-athletes. I now serve in an entirely new role at RIT.

I am the Associate Director of Annual Giving here at RIT. I have the pleasure of overseeing digital giving campaigns that support RIT, from departments, to clubs, to athletic teams. Some of the well-known campaigns are Get in the Game and ROAR Day. Thanks to many of you, we raised over $335,000, with over 2,300 gifts during ROAR Day in September 2023. In addition to these two large campaigns, I work with student groups to help raise funds for their organizations. These smaller, yet impactful campaigns, allow our on-campus student organizations to learn about peer-to-peer fundraising and the importance of philanthropy to the RIT experience. To learn more about active campaigns, I invite you to visit our impactRIT website.

Currently, I am working closely with Dan Christner and Martie Staser to secure a few challenges to add to our upcoming Get in the Game Spring Athletics Challenge. Some of your fellow athletic supporters have already stepped up to the plate and have offered incredible challenges to help raise additional funds for their favorite team. If you are interested in making a challenge for your favorite team or know of someone who would be interested, do not hesitate to reach out to Dan, Martie, or me. I look forward to partnering with you to make this the most successful Get in the Game campaign yet.

In addition to all of the above, we always strive to find members in our RIT athletic community who believe in the incredible work that RIT Athletics does for the development of our student-athletes. Donors can/may consider becoming a member of our Sentinel Society, by committing to a minimum gift of $1,000/year, for five consecutive years ($500-$999 if you graduated in the last decade) to the Athletics General Fund.

I look forward to my continued work and collaboration with RIT Athletics and their fans.

Greetings From RIT Women's Lacrosse

As we kick off the 2024 season, we’re excited to share our progress with you. After a tough scrimmage against Cortland, where we gleaned valuable insights, we had another competitive scrimmage against St. John Fisher. The energy on the field has been palpable, and we’re eagerly anticipating the challenges ahead.

Our dedication has been unwavering, and it’s evident in our practices. Practices have been focused, challenging and high-energy. Despite being a small team, our commitment knows no bounds, and we’re consistently impressed by the level of effort and dedication displayed by every single member of our team. Simply put, we are ALL IN on the 2024 season. ALL IN has become our theme for the year and it’s been refreshing to see the level of collective dedication and enthusiasm from the team.

Beyond honing our skills on the field, we’ve placed a significant emphasis on fostering a positive culture that allows us to maximize our potential. Collaborating with Sarah Darrenbacher from Evolveability has provided us with invaluable tools to enhance our performance and personal growth.

We opened the season against SUNY Geneseo last week and we return to action at Nazareth on Saturday, then take on SUNY Brockport next Wednesday (March 6). We cannot wait to showcase our hard work and determination on the field.

This year brings an exciting blend of fresh talent and seasoned veterans assuming new roles. Senior captains Carrissa Hlwya and Claire Templeton have already left an indelible mark on the team, demonstrating exceptional leadership and driving us toward our collective potential.

We hope to see you on our sidelines this year!

GO TIGERS!

RIT Men's Lacrosse: Excited for the 2024 Season

Our off season was extremely productive in many ways. Our players have now made it the norm to conduct at least one community service event each month in the off season which has been great for the community, but also helps to keep us grounded and appreciate all the luxuries we have as student-athletes. We worked with many different groups and organizations throughout the fall and the holidays, which brought us together and taught us some valuable lessons. We have also put an emphasis on mindset training and being more intentional with our daily approach, so along with gratitude, we hope these two pillars of success will work hand in hand and should help us find our way in 2024.

The fall non-traditional season was also a success. The guys put in a lot of work on the field and we put extra emphasis on the weight room as well. We had a wonderful alumni weekend in September and capped the fall season off hosting scrimmages against Lemoyne and St. Bonaventure where we played at a high level and learned a lot about our team.

With a month of training and two solid weekends of scrimmages under our belt, we are now looking forward to the challenges ahead with some nice upgrades to our 2024 schedule. The Liberty League continues to be one of the top leagues in Division III. With the addition of Denison, Grove City, Washington & Lee and Tufts to an already competitive out-of-conference schedule, we will have to be on point week in and week out.

Our program has high hopes and goals to be in the mix at the end of May, but it will be vital we improve every week and keep grounded throughout the season! We love the challenges and look forward to every Payday…we hope to see you all there!
