Water you waiting for? Choose Water.

Water is a crucial nutrient which makes up 60% of our bodies. Water is important for metabolic functions, regulating body temperature, and delivering oxygen around the body. Dehydration occurs when fluid intake does not replenish lost water.  You may be dehydrated if you have a headache, nausea, dry skin/lips, muscle cramps, and/or dark colored urine.

The average adult should aim to drink half their body weight in ounces of water.  For example, a 160 lb college student should aim for 80 ounces of water each day.  If you are very active, spending a lot of time in the heat, and/or consuming a lot of coffee, protein, or alcohol, your water intake should be higher.

To increase water consumption:

  • Set attainable goals to increase your water intake
  • Carry a water bottle everywhere and fill it up often
  • Choose water over other beverages because they may cause dehydration
  • Set reminders on your phone if you struggle to drink enough water

Each week, we are sharing a financial wellness tip to help you make the connection between financial management decisions, your overall wellness, and student success. Money touches every aspect of our lives, and a lack of financial literacy can cause unnecessary stress and negatively impact our mental and physical health.

Important Semester Deadlines

Today is the last day of the add/drop period for Spring semester! All changes to your schedule must be made by 11:59 p.m. tonight. Courses dropped after today result in a “W” grade on your transcript. While a “W” does not impact your GPA, it carries no credit and full tuition is charged. Just remember, full-time undergraduate students cannot withdraw under full-time status without special permission from your academic program.

It is highly recommended that you consult with both your Academic Advisor and Financial Aid Counselor before making any changes to your semester schedule. Check out the Spring 2215 Term Tuition Refund/Adjustment Schedule for important information pertaining to financial impact of enrollment changes.

Keep an eye out for the Money Mondays series starting on January 24, 2022 and check out the Financial Literacy website. Follow the Financial Literacy Team on Facebook and Instagram.
