FIRST Robotics Finger Lakes Regional Information
March 12, 2020

The 2020 FIRST Robotics Finger Lakes Regional, which was scheduled for March 13 and 14 in the Gordon Field House, is postponed as of this morning. The regional planning team has not indicated a rescheduled date at this time. Further information would be forthcoming through the FIRST Finger Lakes Regional http://upstatenyfirst.org

These actions are being undertaken to mitigate the potential spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19). While some campus operations and activities may continue, they will have adjustments, including cancellations. There remain many unanswered given rapidly evolving conditions. RIT is working to provide additional information as quickly as possible.

Welcome contestants, colleagues, family and friends to the Finger Lakes Regional FIRST Robotics Competition! We are pleased to welcome this year’s new participants and returning visitors to the campus of the Rochester Institute of Technology for our 16th Anniversary!

We would like to thank RIT and their President Dr. David C. Munson for their continued support of FIRST and for the use of the Gordon Field House. We would also like to thank and acknowledge all the mentors and volunteers that help plan and run this event and the alliance of corporate and educational sponsors, whose financial and volunteer support is critical to our success.

This competition is the result of the hard work and dedication by countless people who have contributed thousands of volunteer hours. Thanks to all the behind the scene volunteers, teachers, mentors and parents who’ve helped create this one-of-a-kind program. Your efforts are inspiring!

To our student competitors we are impressed by your dedication to your teammates, your schools, and your commitment to developing new skills that will help to build your bright futures. It is young adults like you who will keep our country a leader in science and technology.

To the teachers, mentors and parents who give so much to their students, be assured you are making a difference in your student’s lives and they will look back on their time with the team and remember your sacrifices and the example you set.

Thank you! And, good luck to all the teams!
