First to the Crown

That Damn Goat is a multiplayer competitive party game where chaos reigns, frustrations mount, and everything you think you know about your situation is instantly thrown out of whack by a flying, head-butting goat with magical powers.

Avoid that damn goat!

You have the crown, great! The longer you hold on to it, the harder it will be to keep because the Goat will be on the hunt for you. Avoid your enemies and be named king of the hill.

Command a wild cast of characters

4 players; 4 vastly different characters. Choose from the Soccer Mom, Shaman, Nomad, or Viking Warrior, each with their own unique abilities, advantages, and home environments. Learn more about that damn goat here, too.

The Goat

Overview

A wretched beast that brings no one any joy, does not sleep, has poor dietary habits, tends towards the dramatic, and smashes things to bits.

Personality

An abnormal herding instinct has made him determined to put you to shame one way or another. A total jerk.

Special Abilities

  • Taz: He spins around in an uncontrolled pile of attitude.
  • Faint: When he faints, your world changes under your feet.
  • Headbutt: It literally changes who you are.
  • Fly: His tail helicopters him around: death from above!
  • Blackhole: Randomly transports unsuspecting players elsewhere.
  • Teleport: Yes, he can show up anywhere, anytime.

Soccer Mom

Overview

Stacy’s mom is a neighborhood legend and is weirdly concerned that you are not hydrated. By the way, you’re not.

Personality

She can make you a snack, tie your laces and sign you up for summer camp all at the same time, without putting down her day planner.

Special Abilities

  • Water Bottle Barrage: Call it tough love; she hurls water bottles at you with alarming speed and accuracy. Sure they may knock you down, but at least you’ll be hydrated when it happens.
  • Home Advantage: Her ability is only strengthened in the confines of her neighborhood, Backyard BBQ! Shorter cooldown times mean more water bottles!
Soccer Mom character

Shaman

Overview

Imagine a peace-loving weapon of destruction with infinite sight, add levitation and some slick threads and there you have it.

Personality

Wanders through space and time and occasionally turns in to a bomb to get his message of peace across. Otherwise very lovely.

Special Abilities

  • Karma Rocket: What’s more peace-loving than transforming into a karma rocket? He levitates and surrounds himself in a mystic protective shield, then hurls himself and explodes on impact. Peace out.
  • Home Advantage: As if levitating weren’t enough, the shaman rides random cyclones in Crusty Canyon that wipe out all others, moving him around the desert with amazing speed.

Nomad

Overview

A loner with personal space ‘issues,’ he survives on patience, skill and knowledge gained from his High School Earth Science classes.

Personality

Cold, mysterious, and has the personality of a frozen meatloaf, but in a cool way. Just don’t touch his mask.

Special Abilities

  • Sandstorm: He has learned the power of mother nature! He conjures up a sandstorm that engulfs anyone in its path, limiting visibility, increasing confusion and drawing you to its center.
  • Home Advantage: The rocky terrain of his home turf, Dusty Dunes, adds to the danger inside the sandstorm! Flying boulders are no one’s friend and certain to knock you sideways!
Nomad character

Viking Warrior

Overview

She wants a fight and will fight anything: you, me, a slobbering bear, a house, a sandwich…

Personality

Freakishly strong, agile in a bewildering way, and single-mindedly obsessed with pulverizing things to dust.

Special Abilities

  • Hammer Slam: Her hammer slam is the stuff of legend! She sends her enemies flying with a powerful blast zone, complete with lightning and the power of the gods!
  • Home Advantage: Only she can roam her village upright, unaffected by the sheets of slippery ice that cover the ground of Viking Village. Maybe she just refuses to obey the laws of gravity.

That Damn Goat is one of the biggest games to be produced by MAGIC Spell Studios at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), bringing over 40 students and faculty from different disciplines together.

Our outreach has grown within the RIT community through playtesting on campus. That Damn Goat has been an ongoing project since May 2020 with a projected release on Steam and the Nintendo Switch in 2023.
