Bible Institute for the Deaf (BID) is a Christian School affiliated with the Philippines General Council of the Assemblie s of God.
We educate students from the Preparatory level to post-high school Ministerial level.
Bible Institute for the Deaf (BID) was founded by Rev. S. Wayne Shaneyfelt, a missionary of the US General Council of the Assemblies
of God. He started the ministry to Deaf people in the Philippines in October 1962. To perpetuate the work, he trained workers from the
three regional Bible Schools. In 1966, among those who stayed on after several training seminars were Remy Ramos of Luzon Bible
Institute in Pangasinan, Elena Castillo of Immanuel Bible Institute in Cebu and Perlita Esteva of Bethel Bible Institute in Valenzuela
(Perlita is from Mindanao). The teamwork of the three ladies was uniquely complementary and advantageous; because they represented the
three big islands that they hailed from, also the three respective Bible Institutes that they graduated from, and each spoke their regional
dialect . Thus the "LuzViMinda" Team was organized.
Rev. S. W. Shaneyfelt established BID in 1971 to facilitate the growing number of Deaf people that had the call of God to minister. BID
originally educated students on the post-high school ministerial level; however, later BID opened its doors to preparatory and elementary students.
In 1988, BID received the permit to operate from the government; then in May 1996, BID was officially recognized by the Department of Education.
