RIT students studying at the Weihai campus will be notified of optional activities and excursions for international students which will visit nearby cultural sites throughout the semester which are led by faculty and staff. Excursions are optional and may incur a nominal cost. Excursions offered may include:
- Sightseeing and cultural day trips to the city of Weihai and other cities in the Shandong province
- A visit to Liugong Island, located in Weihai Bay, famous for its beautiful scenery and memorials of the Sino-Japanese War of 1894.
- A visit to the mountains of Taishan, considered one of the most beautiful scenic spots in China.
- A visit to Qufu, the hometown of Confucius
