Get Connected with Wellness on Campus

RIT Wellness is here to help you develop a healthy lifestyle, social interaction, and leadership skills. There are many ways to get connected with Wellness on campus:

Recreation
RIT is home to some of the finest recreational facilities at the college level, today. If you’re interested in playing your favorite sport, trying out a new activity, or making friends with similar interests, check out intramurals and club sports. Red Barn Climbing is also a fun way to get moving and try something new on campus!

If you’re looking for a solo challenge, sign up for a virtual 5k on Strava! Join challenges throughout the semester on the RIT Recreation Strava page and complete the virtual 5K on your own time. Winners will get a free Intramurals Champion t-shirt!

Education
Wellness Education and Outdoor Education, combined, offer over 400 wellness-related classes each year. There is a large variety of courses available for you to choose from, including Zumba, Juggling, Stress Management, Maple Syrup and our Environment, and more. Students are required to take two wellness classes prior to graduation, but there is no limit to the number of classes you can take. Shopping carts are open for the spring – check out the available courses in SIS!

More than halfway through the semester - don't give up on that sleep routine just yet!

Did you know sleep can help…

  • Boost your immune system
  • Strengthen your heart
  • Improve your mood
  • Increase your productivity
  • Increase exercise performance
  • Improve your memory

All of these seem like GREAT things to keep in mind as we head into the final stretch of the semester!

Each week, we are sharing a financial wellness tip to help you make the connection between financial management decisions, your overall wellness, and student success. Money touches every aspect of our lives, and a lack of financial literacy can cause unnecessary stress and negatively impact our mental and physical health.

Hidden ATM Fees
Hidden, or undisclosed, fees may be a one-time charge and may appear in fine print on a contract. ATM fees can vary from $2.50 - $5.00 per transaction. If you use an ATM not operated by your own bank to make a withdrawal, deposit, or even to check your balance, you could be charged an ATM fee. In some cases, you can be charged an ATM operator fee, or even an international transaction fee when using an ATM outside of the United States or your home country.

How can I avoid or reduce hidden ATM fees?

  • Use your bank’s app to find branches and free ATMs near you
  • Choose the cash-back option when paying at grocery stores and other merchants
  • Withdraw cash less frequently but in greater amounts

Advantage Federal Credit Union is located on the RIT campus in Global Village and never charges members a fee to use their ATM! Check your bank statement for hidden fees, and do some research on your bank’s ATM options. You may decide it’s time to switch banks and do business with one that has more FREE in-network ATMs and/or greater flexibility.
