Welcome Tiger Families!
In just a few short months, your student will begin this next chapter—starting life at RIT. There is a lot to think about right now-wrapping up high school or a previous college experience, managing the RIT checklist, preparing for a new living situation, and supporting your student as they gain independence. We know this can feel like an overwhelming time, and we’re here to help your family through the transition.
Every student’s college experience is unique. For some, this is their first time away from home; for others, it’s a continuation of a different college journey. You likely have questions, and maybe a few concerns, but you’re also looking forward to watching your student grow. Just like you, we’re excited to welcome your student to the Tiger family and support them as they begin their time at RIT.
The purpose of these Family Orientation Newsletters is to provide you with the official RIT tools and information you need to support your student as they prepare for life at RIT. Throughout the summer, we’ll share deadlines, resources, and helpful insights to keep you on track. While you may come across unofficial resources that seem helpful, they may not always reflect the most current RIT information, so we encourage you to rely on the guidance shared in these newsletters and on the Orientation website.
As parents, family members, and supporters, you play a vital role in your student’s transition and success. You are a valued part of the RIT community, and we are thrilled to have you as our partners.
