Get RIT Ready

You are not new to college, but you are new to RIT. That means learning new processes, new people, and new ways of getting things done.

Reach out early, ask when you are unsure, and connect with the people and resources meant to support you. You do not have to figure it out on your own.

Hot topic: Fall course schedules

Your primary academic advisor and academic department will create your first semester course schedule. They will notify you via your RIT email when your schedule is ready.

If your academic department has questions related to planning and placement for fall courses, they will contact you. Please check your RIT email regularly, as communications may be time-sensitive.

Computer Recommendations

A close-up shot shows a person's hands typing on a silver laptop keyboard. The person's forearms, clad in a red long-sleeved shirt, are visible as their fingers rest over the black keys of the laptop.

To help you choose the right device for your program, the RIT Campus Store has compiled computer recommendations by college so you can purchase with confidence.

As an Apple® Authorized Campus Store, the RIT Campus Store offers exclusive RIT education pricing on Mac and iPad products. Dell PCs, RIT apparel and merchandise, tech accessories, and a wide range of school, art, and photo supplies are available for purchase online or in-store.

Entrance to the RIT Campus Store inside a bright, modern campus building. A large sign reading “RIT Campus Store” hangs above an open retail area with clothing, merchandise, and displays visible inside.

You'll receive your course schedule in early August, along with more information about course materials and purchase options through our online bookstore.

Explore and connect with necessary resources

Many of the supports you may have had previously are also available at RIT. Review available services and connect with the Disability Services Office for accommodations, or the Department of Access Services if you are a Deaf or Hard-of-hearing student in need of interpreting, note‑taking, and real‑time captioning support. Reaching out early helps RIT support you and helps you feel prepared.
