The Black Futures Mixer

When: February 22, 6 pm- 8 pm
Where: Gracies Dining Common

This is a chance for all Black-identified administrators, faculty, staff, students and alums to network and find belonging. There will be select tables for specific topics related to creating a healthy future for Black people on campus and beyond. There will also be opportunities for “unstructured conversations” too. And get this: The first 70 students, 50 alumni, and 30 employees to register will receive a free meal, inspired by the African Diaspora.

RIT graduate students learn strategies for academic publishing

While the pressure to publish starts early in an academic’s career, RIT doctoral student Israa Thiab has a strategy to get the work done without the anxiety. Thiab, a student in the Golisano Institute for Sustainability, is working on her first journal article, using techniques she learned at a writing retreat sponsored by RIT’s Graduate School.

The workshop gave Thiab a new perspective on writing and publishing and practical tools to help her achieve her goals. “During the workshop, I was able to set up a preliminary daily schedule, which would ensure that I make incremental progress in writing,” said Thiab, who is originally from Amman, Jordan. “This is important for me as I have an ambitious timeline to publishing my first paper.”

Saunders College will begin offering two new online master’s degrees in fall of 2023

Saunders College of Business at Rochester Institute of Technology will begin offering two new master’s degree programs, exclusively online, beginning in the fall of 2023.

  • Hospitality business management will offer career changers or working professionals the opportunity to gain advanced skills in technology, analytics, customer experience design and management, business strategy, hotel asset management, and investment.
  • Organizational leadership and innovation will equip students with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required to lead diverse teams, technology-driven changes, and innovative projects in organizations.

Council of Graduate Schools Offers Webinar on The Role of Text and Data Mining in Graduate Research

In this webinar, you will hear a current graduate student and a recent doctoral recipient share their perspectives, obstacles, methodologies, and findings on how they are leveraging text and data mining. The second portion of the presentation will focus on TDM Studio, a platform that can augment the research process, from content access to data interrogation. Join us to learn about the tools that have helped these researchers achieve their goals.

The webinar will be Wednesday, March 8, 2023, 2:00-2:45 pm ET.
