Accomplishments from Saunders Students

  • ASCM@RIT, RIT’s Supply Chain Management Club, facilitated a site visit to the Rochester office of QuidelOrtho, a medical device and testing kit manufacturer, on Thursday, February 27th.

  • Linda Wiener ‘83 (MBA), with Jessica Drachler, of Allied Financial Services conducted an interactive tax session with members of Next Generation of Accountants on Wednesday, February 19th. The session focused on tax planning, using specialized accounting software to show how different life events, such as marriage, children, or rental real estate losses, affected the taxes owed or refunded for both federal and state.

  • Jancy Nightingale-Burch, assistant director of marketing at Saunders College of Business, Dhwani Doshi ‘25 (business analytics), and Jen Spencer ‘23 (Executive MBA) placed third in a case competition on health equity challenges at the 21st Annual Columbia Business School Healthcare Conference on Feb. 7 in New York. Their team presented a solution to address the primary care gap and quantified the potential return on investment.

  • Phatsimo (Olebile) Koboto ‘26 (MS hospitality business management) and Julia (Jay) Ferreira ‘26 (BFA interior design) attended the Americas Lodging Investment Summit (ALIS) in Los Angeles, January 28-30, as student ambassadors representing RIT. ALIS, according to Phatsimo, “brought together top hospitality and investment leaders to dive into key topics like hotel development, market trends, and where the industry is headed.”

  • Amal Aboushanab ‘25 (hospitality and tourism management), Anika Ying ‘26 (hospitality and tourism management), Jenna Kelley ‘25 (hospitality and tourism management), and Pablo Vargas ‘24 (hospitality and tourism management) took over the Commons pasta station each Tuesday and Thursday throughout the month of February. On their respective dates, the students served Egyptian Koshary (Amal), Stir Fried Rice Cakes (Anika), Birria Tacos (Jenna), and Hispanic Pupusas (Pablo).

Saunders Faculty and Staff Go Above and Beyond

  • Mark Pangrazio has joined Saunders College as a Budget Analyst, beginning February 17. Prior to coming to RIT, Mark served as Senior Cost Accountant at Vuzix Corporation where he oversaw budgeting, forecasting, inventory reconciliation, and financial analysis.

      • RIT community has free access to Bloomberg.com—Here’s how to register 
        RIT students, staff, and faculty can now access Bloomberg.com for free through January 31, 2026. This service offers business and tech news, analysis, TV streaming, podcasts, and special content. Simply register using your RIT email address. This benefit comes courtesy of the "Tigers Trading" team—composed of Evan Macko (finance), Carter Ptak (software engineering), and Rosa Kauffman (Japanese)—who won the 2024 Bloomberg Global Trading Challenge, defeating 2,453 teams from 396 universities across 46 countries.

      • RIT Ph.D. student and visiting assistant professor driving global sustainability
        Israa Ameen Thiab, a Ph.D. student at Golisano Institute for Sustainability and visiting professor at Saunders College of Business, developed her passion for sustainability as a teen in Jordan. After establishing her consulting firm, she became interested in gender's influence on entrepreneurship. Her work with the ASEAN Circular Entrepreneurship project involves creating training programs for circular economy principles across Southeast Asia. At RIT, she teaches sustainability courses, bringing real-world examples to students while conducting research that aims to bridge sustainability and entrepreneurship. Thiab hopes her work will influence policies, encourage corporate adoption of circular practices, and shift business models toward regenerative systems.

      • Saunders College of Business celebrated its third Women’s Leadership Weekend Feb. 28-Mar. 1, with two events that embrace innovation and empowerment in today’s workforce.

      • Saunders ranks among TFE Times’ top graduate programs
        Saunders College of Business at Rochester Institute of Technology received several rankings from TFE Times on their Top Graduate Programs lists for 2025.

      • Saunders College of Business was pleased to host the 15th Annual Power Your Potential Women's Conference on Friday, February 28, 2025. This year, our event was focused on Navigating Adversity with Resilience. The 2025 Power Your Potential keynote presenter is Eva Ames, who is a passionate about building a future where supply chain and logistics are enablers for new mobility offerings and decarbonized transportation. She currently serves as Vice President of Global Key Accounts for the Automotive & Mobility Enterprise Vertical at DSV, Eva uses her diverse background and over 15 years of experience as a former automotive design engineer and US Federal regulator to challenge “the way things have always been done” for clients producing everything from micro mobility scooters to batteries, passenger cars, and heavy equipment.


      • The Women's Leadership Summit (WLS), hosted by the Leadership Academy at Saunders, successfully concluded its RIT event focused on "Inclusion and Empowerment." The summit continued its mission of inspiring, connecting, and educating women and allies to become tomorrow's leaders across all industries, from arts and sciences to technology. This year's theme emphasized how inclusive cultures unlock potential, drive creativity, and enhance performance while fostering an environment where everyone feels valued and equipped to lead.
