The Hearing Speech & Deaf Center of Greater Cincinnati (HSDC) is a non-profit, community agency founded in 1925, dedicated to providing advocacy, education, outreach and service for persons and their families who need assistance regarding hearing, speech, language and/or d/Deafness.  We work together to strengthen our community through advocacy and by supporting individuals and families to overcome obstacles to communication.

HSDC is interested in hiring C-Print certified captionist to work in varies locations providing services to deaf and hard of hearing.  This is a face-to-face opportunity.  We may establish remote captioning in the future. Hours are based upon need and captionist availability and are not guaranteed. We may have equipment that transcriptionist can borrow; it is also common for captionist to provide their own equipment.

Major Duties and Expectations:

  • Provides captioning services to individuals who are Deaf or hard of hearing primarily.
  • Adheres to the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) training completion requirements.
  • Assists consumers with advocacy and education as requested and required by HSDC.
  • Assists with distribution of satisfaction surveys to consumers.
  • Adheres to all Center administrative policies in accordance with stated procedures.
  • Assists Program Manager with special events and other CSD/HSDC programs and projects.
  • Complies with all accreditation standards.
  • Assists with data collection for United Way, RSC, and other funders.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education/Skills/Experience:

  • Verification of Completion from Rochester Institute of Technology is required.
  • Excellent ASL and English skills are preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills are required.
  • Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation required.
