I worked as a medical illustration intern at the University of California at San Diego and as a scientific illustration intern at the Rochester Museum and Science Center. Both co-op experiences gave me an opportunity to improve and promote my art skills and knowledge of illustration techniques. I learned to create art images that depicted the definition of cancer, and painted a scientific mural that exhibited specimens. These experiences confirmed my interest in pursuing a job as a medical or scientific illustrator.
RIT was a great fit for me because of the support for deaf and hard-of-hearing students and the wonderful community environment. My academic advisor and employment advisor were influential in helping me with my studies and getting my co-op experiences.
