PEN-International and NTID were represented at the Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAA) National Convention on 18-21 June 2009 in Nashville, Tennessee. PEN-International Director James J. DeCaro and NTID President and Vice President/Dean of RIT for NTID T. Alan Hurwitz were two of the seven panelists gathered to discuss how to support hard-of-hearing students in postsecondary education. Each panelist conducted an individual presentation. This occasion also was used to introduce PEN-International's new series of eight informational "tipsheets" for deaf college students covering topics related to hearing loss and communication access.
