Opening Reception Friday, December 6, 6-9 PM Gallery Talk Friday, January 24, 6:00 PM Free and open to the public The legacy of R. Roger Remington, Vignelli Distinguished Professor of Design and Director of the Vignelli Center for Design Studies at Rochester Institute of Technology, cannot be overstated. A nationally-recognized graphic design program and the Vignelli Center for Design Studies, now celebrating its tenth year, are just two highlights of his 57-year career. Though not a retrospective, the work in this exhibition allows viewers a glimpse of Remington not often seen. Organic and playful experimentation with form, construction, and even found objects are part of the language in these prints, sculptures and assemblages, along with hard-edged design variations that will seem familiar to those acquainted with his work. In these examples, the practices of art and design may seem to blur together—a welcome characteristic of this exhibition, and of Remington’s creative pursuit spanning six decades.
