Sparrows

Sp(arrows) is a two-person exhibition of recent work by Annalisa Barron and Taylor Kennedy, whose combined work explores the cathartic relationship of domesticity and surrealism through drawing, painting, sculpture and installation. Both artists are currently adjunct faculty at RIT's College of Art and Design.

Part of RIT's programming for the Rochester Fringe Festival.

Gallery Talk and Reception: Friday, September 2, 6-9 PM. Gallery talk starts at 6 PM, followed by a demonstration of Annalisa Barron's Support Systems installation. Free and open to the public.

Annalisa Barron (b. 1987) is an interdisciplinary artist based in New York City and Rochester, NY. She graduated from Penn State University with a BFA in Painting and Drawing in 2013 and with an MFA in Sculpture from the Pratt Institute in 2017. Her work has been exhibited at the Cooper Union, University of Rochester, Southern Oregon University, Bunker Projects (Pittsburgh, PA), the U.S. Embassy in Nicaragua, No/Gloss film festival (UK), and the Anthology Film Archives (NYC). Her most recent film, The Kingdom of Back (2017) was featured in GRRL HAUS Cinema’s 2018 European tour. She has received support from the New York Foundation for the Arts, Rochester Institute of Technology, the AAUW, the New York State Inspire Grant, Penn State University and the Simmons-Jansma Project Renew Grant. Currently, Annalisa teaches sculpture at the University of Rochester and 3D foundations at RIT. Click here to find out more.

Taylor Mica Kennedy was born and raised in the village of Sodus Point, a small tourist town located between Lake Ontario and Sodus Bay. She received her BFA in Fine Art Studio from RIT in 2015, and her MFA in Printmaking from the Pratt Institute in 2017. After graduating, Taylor worked as a studio assistant and executive intern at the Brooklyn Museum. Currently she is adjunct faculty for RIT’s College of Art and Design, a teaching artist for the Memorial Art Gallery’s Creative Workshop and a guest teaching artist at The Painted Cloud Art Studio in Brooklyn, NY.
