New Student Newsletter

In just a few weeks, you’ll be on campus, where you’ll spend much of your time. This newsletter will help you get familiar with dining, transportation, and parking at RIT. You’ll also learn how to get your RIT ID card ready—key steps to help you navigate campus smoothly and feel prepared for your first day.

 

Important Reminders

  • Visit the Graduate Orientation webpage for information on requirements, helpful checklists, and valuable campus resources.

  • Complete your mandatory virtual orientation

  • Register for the next Accepted Graduate Student Webinar taking place on July 15 at 9 a.m. or 5 p.m. EST.
 

Get Your RIT Student ID Card Ready

To make getting your RIT ID card as quick and easy as possible:

  • Upload your photo before you arrive on campus. You can also have it taken at the RIT Service Center.
  • If you'd like a chosen name printed on your ID card, enter it in the Display Name field at start.rit.edu.
  • Pick up your ID card at the RIT Service Center on campus. Be sure to bring a government-issued photo ID.

Contact the RIT Service Center or visit ID Card Services for photo requirements, office hours, and additional information.

Eating on Campus

Fuel your body and mind with RIT Dining's diverse on-campus options, including ten restaurants, six micromarkets, five coffee shops, two convenience stores, venue concessions, and a full-service catering department, all offering international cuisine, house-made specials, special dietary offerings, and desserts.

Parking and Transportation

Transportation Services
RIT has on-campus transportation services to make your everyday commute to, from, and around campus easier. Learn about campus transportation options on the Parking and Transportation Services website. 

Parking Permits
If you plan to bring a vehicle to campus, you must purchase a parking permit annually at the start of the academic year through the MyParking Portal. Review the parking permit options so you are prepared to purchase your permit when sales begin on August 12.

ParkMobile
ParkMobile is a mobile payment service for hourly or daily parking on campus. Visit the app page for details.

The RIT mobile app brings essential campus information and services together in one place. Use it to check real-time shuttle bus locations, explore dining options and hours, view campus maps, and stay up to date on events. You’ll also find quick links to important resources and frequently contacted offices, making it a helpful tool for navigating daily life at RIT.
