2026 United Way Day of Caring

When: May 21, 2026, 9:00 am - 2:00 pm
Where: Mt. Hope Cemetery

Day of Caring is the largest community-wide volunteer event across our region, serving Genesee, Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Wayne, and Wyoming counties. Volunteers connect with co-workers, friends, and family to spend the day helping hundreds of local nonprofits.

Ph.D. candidate uses 3D-printed metals to improve reconstructive surgery

While a graduate student in Colombia in 2020, Valeria Marin Montealegre was also an entrepreneur. She observed surgeons doing reconstruction surgeries with the prosthetics she designed for HumanBX—a custom, implantable device company she co-founded.

RIT appoints Chris Regis as senior vice president and chief financial officer

Rochester Institute of Technology President Bill Sanders has appointed Christine “Chris” Regis as senior vice president and chief financial officer, effective July 1. Regis joins RIT from Southern Methodist University, where she served for nearly two decades as senior vice president for business and finance and CFO.
