CLCE Final Retreat of the Semester!

When: Nov 19, 2022, 10:30AM - 3:00PM

Where: RIT campus (register to know more)

Leadership Retreat is a fun and interactive program that encourages you to reflect on leadership skills you use during a series of engaging activities. This one-day event not only helps in understanding what skills you use as a leader in an everyday setting, it also helps you to recognize the skills you want to acquire and develop. Join the CLCE and Outdoor Education for our first on campus retreat! You will be working with a team to work through mental and physical obstacles. This experience will lean on your ability to collaborate with others and tap into your leadership abilities.

Astrophysical Sciences and Technology Colloquium: The Far Ultraviolet Diffuse Background

Speaker Bio:

Dr. Shri Kulkarni is the George Ellery Hale Professor of Astronomy at the California Institute of Technology. He served as Executive Officer for Astronomy (1997-2000) and Director of Caltech Optical Observatories for the period 2006-2018. Dr.Kulkarni obtained his undergradutedegree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi and his PhD from UC Berkeley. He served a brief period as a postdoc at UC Berekelyand Caltech before joining the faculty rank at Caltech in 1987.Prof. Kulkarni's primary interests are the study of compact objects (neutron stars and gamma-ray bursts) and cosmic explosions. He is keenly interested in developing or refining astronomical methodologies.

RIT engineering alumnus is part of DART team that changed the speed and path of an asteroid

It is a powerful thing to redirect a 525-foot asteroid with a spacecraft moving at 14,000 mph, and Dmitriy Bekker was one of the engineers who made it happen.

Bekker ’07 BS/MS (computer engineering) is part of the DART – Double Asteroid Redirection Test team that impacted the asteroid Dimorphos on Sept. 26. Its mission was to test asteroid deflection technology—a means to defend Earth by changing the motion and speed of an asteroid.

RIT receives trio of TRIO grants to support underrepresented students over the next five years

Rochester Institute of Technology received funding from the U.S. Department of Education to continue offering three federal TRIO programs for supporting underrepresented students. RIT earned competitive grants anticipated to total more than $4 million over the next five years to support its McNair Scholars,  Upward Bound, and Veterans Upward Bound programs.

Final Exam Preparation Workshop - Academic Success Center

When: Nov 21, 2022, 12 PM – 1 PM EST

It is not too early to start preparing for final exams. This workshop will provide students with tools and techniques to plan, organize, and study for finals. The primary audience for this workshop is students but is also open to the RIT community.

Vote now for RIT’s tiger courier for 'Dota 2' game

Rochester Institute of Technology is vying to be the first university to develop and have a game character accepted into the wildly popular online game Dota 2. The character, or courier, in the form of a tiger, was developed in MAGIC Spell Studios by a team of former RIT students and a faculty adviser and can now be voted on for consideration into the game by anyone with an active Steam platform account.
