2023 Graduate Education Week Poster Design Contest

Graduate students are invited to create a design for this academic year’s Graduate Education Week that celebrates the creative, innovative, and entrepreneurial research of RIT graduate students. This year’s theme is One World: Fusing Science, Technology, Art, and Engineering.

Eligibility: 

  • Current RIT graduate students
  • One entry created per graduate student or a team of 2 graduate students

Prize: $250 VISA Gift Card

Speaker focuses on critical thinking to combat misinformation

Cailin O’Connor, a professor in the Department of Logic and Philosophy of Science at University of California, Irvine, and co-author of The Misinformation Age: How False Beliefs Spread, will be this year’s featured speaker for the Eugene H. Fram Signature Lecture in Critical Thinking, in collaboration with RIT’s College of Science.

Saunders College will honor Susan R. Holliday with 2022 Vanden Brul Award

Susan R. Holliday ’85 (MBA), who led the turnaround and growth of the Rochester Business Journal during nearly three decades as president, publisher, and owner, has been named the 2022 recipient of the Herbert W. Vanden Brul Entrepreneurial Award, presented by Saunders College of Business at Rochester Institute of Technology.

Virginia Tech Presidential Postdoctoral Fellowship program expands

Virginia Tech's Presidential Postdoctoral Fellowship program has expanded to include four distinct tracks and opportunities that may be of interest to your late-stage Ph.D. students and recent graduates. This program seeks to broadly prepare postdocs for the next step in their careers, providing a two-year appointment with nationally competitive salaries and benefits.

The next proposal due date is Nov. 15. The program will continue in 2023 with cycle application dates to be determined. 

Fellowships will be awarded in four tracks, each welcoming diverse applicants from various fields: Research Frontiers, Cybersecurity, Innovation, and Science Policy.

Postdoctoral fellows selected for the program will receive:

  • Two-year appointments with nationally competitive salaries and benefits
  • $10,000 for training and professional development-related expenses
  • Mentoring and professional development support

Research and Experiential Funding Opportunities Presentation 

The Research and Experiential Funding Opportunities presentation, delivered at graduate student orientation, is available for viewing. This program provides graduate students with information on how to search and apply for research and experiential funding while in graduate school. Featuring speakers from across campus, the workshop covers how to search for grants using the GrantForward database, funding for international endeavors, the NSF graduate research fellowship program, the AWARE-AI NSF research traineeship, and RIT graduate school resources.
