Accomplishments from Saunders Students

    • Charlie Slaymaker ‘25 (accounting) was awarded a scholarship from Financial Executives International Rochester at a ceremony held at the Jackrabbit Club in Rochester. The scholarship goes to a student who has a high academic record in overall course work and in major subjects, displays characteristics of high integrity and ethics, passion for the profession, and a high degree of potential for future business leadership.

    Saunders Faculty and Staff Go Above and Beyond

    • Jacqueline Mozrall, dean, Saunders College of Business, has been recognized by the RIT Office of Diversity and Inclusion as a Difference Maker as part of Women’s History Month, March 2025.

    • John Tu, professor of management information systems and associate dean, organized and led an AI Teaching Workshop on March 19, 2025, in Gueldenpfennig Auditorium, Saunders College of Business. Manlu Liu, professor in the department of MIS, marketing, and analytics, served as panel moderator. Vic Perotti, professor in the department of MIS, marketing, and analytics, and Matthew Vollmer, lecturer in the department of MIS, marketing, and analytics, were panelists.

    • Mary Anne Detmer, '98 (MS human resource development), Friendly Senior Living; Cheryl Leader, '96 (business administration), ’99 (MBA), Lifetime Assistance Inc.; Raquel Denise Lowry, '18 (MS management), Coordinated Care Services Inc.; Dr. Candice A. Lucas, '96 (criminal justice), '06 (EMBA), Urban League of Rochester; and Ebony T. Miller, '22 (EMBA), Rochester Institute of Technology, have been named Women of Excellence by Rochester Business Journal. According to RBJ, “Women of Excellence identifies high-achieving women for their tremendous career accomplishments. The women are selected based on their professional experience, community involvement, leadership and sustained commitment to mentoring.” The awardees will be honored on May 8, 2025, at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center.

    • Tony Sampognaro '23 (Online EMBA) '00 (MS Chemistry) '98 (BS Biochemistry) was interviewed by Outsource Pharma for an article, “Pain And Pleasure In Project Management Of CDMOs.” He offered details about how his executive MBA has enhanced his abilities in navigating the business complexities of CDMOs in his current role at Stoke Therapeutics, where he is Director, CMC Project Management.

    • RIT storytellers capture the heart and hustle of Special Olympics athletes
      Students from a variety of majors across RIT came together to create a website offering comprehensive coverage of the 2025 Special Olympics New York Winter Games. This marks the fourth consecutive year RIT has partnered with Special Olympics to document the event. Max Conway ’25 (marketing) led the social media efforts, driving the creation of engaging content for live updates on Special Olympics New York's Instagram and TikTok accounts.

    • Saunders ranked #59 among best undergraduate business schools by Poets&Quants
      Saunders College of Business at RIT has been nationally recognized, ranking #59 on Poets&Quants’ list of the best undergraduate business programs. Notably, Saunders placed 43rd in career outcomes, 64th in admission standards, and 83rd in academic experience among top U.S. business schools.

    • Business student finishes first for racing scholarship
      Kelsey Pinkowski '26(global business management) and racing icon Danica Patrick now have something in common. They both won the prestigious Gorsline Scholarship, which honors outstanding up-and-coming drivers in the racing community.

    • RIT entrepreneurs spotlight artists with new social media site
      Students Rylan Ganeko ’27 (marketing) and Angel Yang ’22 (medical illustration), ’25 MFA (visual communication design) developed Spotlight Creators, a startup meant to filter out ubiquitous, trend-chasing social media content in favor of original artwork. The goal of the site's co-founders is to create a welcoming online community for creatives to share more authentic work.

    On March 20, 2025, Saunders College of Business hosted McClure Lecture Series featuring Bill Imada, founder and chairman of IW Group, a top multicultural marketing agency based in Los Angeles. In his keynote speech, "AI: Artificial, Augmented, and/or Authentic Intelligence. Embracing it all", Bill covered: 

    • How AI often lacks the human "final touch", humans are still refining AI to resonate with customers.
    • Finding the right mix between storytelling and data in marketing strategies. Sometimes leaning into emotions can create more customer engagements.
    • "Transadaptation"- using AI to adapt a message rather than a direct translation. Levergaing AI to adapt content for diverse, nano-cultures, creating genuine engagement and relevance.
