Welcome to the Center for Multidisciplinary Studies, where students interested in more than one area of study can create personalized degree programs directly related to their interests and aspirations.

Today’s business world values individuals with diverse academic backgrounds. The Center for Multidisciplinary Studies offers students this valuable opportunity through its Applied Arts and Science degree programs and specialized certificate programs. These programs focus on providing the student with a multidisciplinary approach to learning that can be applied to the professional environment.

CMS students are anything but typical. Some are adults with families and careers, attending classes online or at night, while others are full time undergraduate students with nontraditional ideas about what they want from their college degree. Through flexible multidisciplinary programs, students follow plans of study tailored to their individual interests that incorporate courses or sets of courses from the center or other RIT departments. To see personal testimonies from students and alum and get more information about the department, take a look at our department Viewbook (3MB download).
