Alumni support makes such a difference in the lives of our students! And it doesn’t matter what area or program an alumnus or alumna chooses to support – EVERY gift contributes to making RIT all that it can be. And gifts that directly support a department, sport or other area of RIT actually provide a sort of “silent scholarship” because they offset operating expenses, allowing the university to provide more scholarships funding for our students – 75% of whom need financial assistance.

Today, tuition covers only 56% of what it takes to educate an RIT student! Alumni support is one of the key areas RIT relies on to close the gap between tuition and actual costs. 

We had a wonderful response from alumni during the 2007-2008 academic year – 8,576 made a gift to RIT! Combined with gifts from parents, faculty/staff and friends, RIT received $3.6 million. (See breakdown here.) Now we’re in a new year with a NEW PARTICIPATION GOAL (see box above). We’ll give you a monthly update and ask that you do what you can to help us get to this goal.

Every gift from a past graduate – no matter what the amount – is critical.  By “giving back,” you are helping RIT produce graduates who will be prepared to face the challenges of the 21st century – they will be the architects of the future who will design and build tomorrow’s industry, business, government and communities.
