Gordon Field House and Activities Center 
Directly attached to the Student Life Center, the 160,000 square foot facility is one of RIT's signature buildings. Inside includes a Multi-Purpose Arena, fitness center, and aquatics center.
Gordon Field House Policies
- Valid RIT ID is required.
- Shirt and proper footwear are required.
- Use of cameras and video equipment is prohibited without prior approval.
- Observe all emergency exit signage.
- Food and gum are prohibited in activity areas.
- Flyers and posters must be approved by management.
- Alcohol and tobacco use are prohibited.
- RIT is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
- Pets are not permitted (except for personal access).
- RIT Members may sponsor up to 3 guests per day.
- Persons under 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
- Infants and toddlers are not permitted in activity areas.
- Solicitation is prohibited.
- Bicycles, skateboards, and roller blades are prohibited.
- Private lessons for profit are prohibited
- Rules for specific areas are posted on site.
- Martial arts and fencing activities are only permitted during official club reservation times or sport specific activity class times. All instructors must have Center approval. Non-compliant individuals may be asked to leave facility or may have privileges suspended.
- Violation of rules included here or other posted policies, malicious use or defacing of property, spitting, solicitation, verbal abuse of employees, or other violations of Institute policy will be investigated by staff, Public Safety and/or local authorities.
Arena Floor Policies
- Shirt and shoes are required at all times.

- Spitting on the floor is strictly prohibited.
- Metal spikes are prohibited on the main floor.
- Hitting, kicking or throwing objects against the bleachers is prohibited.
- Hitting, kicking or throwing objects should occur inside the curtained areas.

- Non-compliant individuals may be asked to leave the facility or have privileges suspended.
Hale-Andrews Student Life Center (SLC) 
This 88,000 square foot complex is located on the north side of the Quarter Mile, midway between the dormitories and Student Alumni Union. It services the recreational, athletic, and wellness instructional needs of the RIT community.
Featured in the Student Life Center:
- Five multi-purpose courts
- Seven racquetball courts
- Squash court
- Two dance studios/fitness rooms
- Mini-gym (basketball, volleyball, multi-purpose court)
- Elevated 200-meter jogging track
- Equipment cage (loan-out and towel service)

Judson/Hale Aquatics Center 
The Aquatics Center includes a stretch 25-yard, eight-lane competition pool with moveable bulkhead, a four-board diving well, and four team locker room.
The recreation pool includes a current channel, vortex, bubble jets, water basketball and volleyball. A 20 person hot tub is also available in this area of the Center.
- All swimmers must sign in.
- All swimmers must wear proper swimwear to enter pool; no street clothes.
- Children under the age of 4 are prohibited from using the pools.
- Children ages 4-15 must be closely supervised by an adult at all times.
- Food, drink, chewing gum, and glass containers are prohibited in the pool area.
- Pool use is prohibited during closed hours.
- Pollution of pool is prohibited (urination, fecal matter, blowing nose, etc).
- Prolonged underwater breath-holding is prohibited.
- No open cuts/sores allowed in the water.
- Absolutely NO swimming under the bulkhead.
- Starting block use is prohibited during recreation swim times.
- Areas of the Aquatics Center will be opened/closed at the discretion of the head lifeguard.
- NO DIVING at any time.
- Enter pool by use of stairs or ladder.
- Current Channel and Vortex will be controlled by lifeguard.
- No more than 5 people in the Vortex at a time.
- When using the Vortex, your head must remain above water at all times.
- No running, dunking, horseplay, or hanging off pool equipment.
- Water basketball/volleyball will be made available at the discretion of the lifeguard.
- No sitting, standing, climbing, etc... on the island.
- Recreation pool can be opened/closed at the discretion of the lifeguard.
- Elderly persons and those diagnosed with a heart condition, diabetes, or high/low blood pressure, are prohibited from using the hot tub.
- Children under the age of 16 are not permitted to use the hot tub.
- Do not use while under the influence of alcohol, anticoagulants, antihistamines, vasoconstrictors, stimulants, hypnotics, narcotics or tranquilizers.
- Women who are pregnant are recommended not to use the hot tub.
- Limit time in hot tub to 15-minutes maximum. Long exposure may result in nausea, dizziness or fainting.
- Keep your head above water at all times.
- Do not use alone.
- Help can be obtained by contacting a lifeguard or using the telephone.
- One diver on the board at a time.
- Diving area must be clear of all swimmers before diving.
- Double bouncing on diving board is prohibited.
- Divers must go straight off the end of diving board.
- After completing a dive, exit the pool using the nearest ladder.
- Swimming under or near the diving boards while in use is prohibited.
- Lifeguards can prohibit someone from attempting a dangerous dive.
- Diving boards can be opened/closed at the discretion of the lifeguard.
- No diving in shallow end (east).
- Absolutely NO swimming under the bulkhead.
- Starting block use is prohibited during recreation swim times.
- When more than two people utilize a lane, swimmers must swim laps in counter-clockwise circles. Choose a lane with swimmers that look approximate to your pace and join them.
Wiedman Fitness Center 
This two-story, 16,000 square foot area features a full range of selectorized machines, free weights, and cardiovascular equipment.
Included are treadmills, ellipticals, step mills, a variety of stationary and spinning bikes, selectorized resistance machines, free weights, multiple adjustable and stationary benches, abdominal training stations, exercise weighted balls and exercise balls, large stretching areas, power lifting stations and multi-station lifting areas.
Along with this wide variety of equipment, the Fitness Center also provides the following general services: free nutritional counseling, student attendants to provide basic usage information for the fitness equipment, personal training courses for students (through the Wellness Instructional Program), and personal training services for faculty and staff (through the faculty staff Better Me program).
Wiedman Fitness Center Policies
- Use of the facility is prohibited without a staff member present.
- Appropriate workout attire is required: shirt, no open-toed shoes, no shorts/pants with buckles, zippers or buttons.
- Food and gum are prohibited.
- Cell phone use is prohibited while using equipment.
- Coats, bags, racquets and other sport equipment are prohibited.
- Children under 14 are not permitted to access the workout area.
- Report injuries and equipment problems to an attendant.
- Read the posted instructions on the equipment prior to use.
- Use proper safety measures and spotters when appropriate.
- Collars are required at all times when using free weights.
- Olympic lifts and overhead lifts are prohibited except in full racks.
- Do not drop or slam weights.
- Chalk use is only permitted in specified areas.
- Spinning bikes are the only bikes that can be used in a standing position.
- Do not adjust TVs yourself. See attendant for assistance.
- Do not remove any equipment from the fitness center.
- Non-compliant individuals may be asked to leave or may have privileges suspended.
Fitness Center Etiquette
- Wipe down the equipment after use.
- Do not monopolize any one piece of equipment.
- Rotate within a circuit with other patrons whenever possible.
- Return all equipment to its appropriate place.
- Good personal hygiene makes it pleasurable for all.
- Please keep the fitness center neat and clean.
- Be courteous and respectful of others.
Red Barn 
This facility is located at the west end of campus and houses Interactive Adventures programs including the Red Barn Climbing Gym
- All climbers must have a current signed release form on file.
- All climbers and visitors must Check In at the front desk before entering the facility.
- Visitors may enter without a release but are not permitted to climb while in the facility.
- Climbing is an inherently dangerous activity that can result in serious injury or death.
- We recommend that you seek proper training before attempting this activity.
- Climbers may fall or swing off of a climb at any time. Please be aware of all other participants while in the facility.
- All fire exits should be free and clear of all personal items and other obstacles.
- No fire door should be propped without staff approval.
Bouldering
- When bouldering it is the climber’s responsibility to:
- Check the fall zone and arrange padding as needed.
- Secure a competent spotter if needed.
- Know the starting and ending points of all climbs and descent options.
- Observe other climbers and the climbs they occupy.
- Select climbs where safe and controlled movement are possible at all times.
- Spotting should be performed by experienced individuals.
- When not spotting stay out of the fall zone.
- Do not sit in any area where a climber may land.
Top-Roping
- Anyone using the rope wall must be supervised by RBC staff.
- Only climbing hardware provided by RBC is permitted.
- Personal harnesses are permitted only when approved by RBC staff.
- Belaying is to be performed by RBC staff only.
General Behavior
- No activity that compromises the safety of an individual or a group will be tolerated.
- Please immediately report any injury, incident or concern to RBC staff on duty.
- No smoking within the Barn or within 100 feet of the building.
- No drugs or alcohol.
- No pets.
- Shirt and footwear must be worn at all times.
- Street shoes are not permitted in the downstairs area or on any padded surface.
- Jewelry and watches should be removed before climbing.
- Food and beverage are not permitted on any padded area.
- No personal items or packs are allowed in any climbing area. These items should be stored in a locker downstairs or set aside in the upstairs area.
- Chalk bags should be placed around the base of any column downstairs or kept on the floor upstairs.
- Loose chalk is permitted only if no excessive mess is created.
- Staff has the right to revoke climbing privileges at any time with or without a violation of any of these policies.
Clark Gym 
Located across from the Campus Center. The Clark building is primarily used by intercollegiate athletics. However, some wellness and recreation programs are conducted here as well. The Clark complex includes:
- Main Gymnasium
- Auxiliary Gymnasium
- Wrestling Room
- Weight Room (Varsity)
- Training Room (Varsity)
- Equipment Room
Clark Gym Policies
- Use of Clark Gym is by reservation only through the SLC main office.
- Clark Gym can be used for "Open Rec" Monday through Friday from 8:30pm to 10:30pm when reservations have not been made.
- RIT ID is required.
- All guests must purchase a pass from the SLC and be accompanied by their sponsor at all times.
- Proper footwear and clothing are required.
- Proper equipment must be used; see Clark Management with any questions.
- Participation is at your own risk. RIT is not responsible for accidents or injuries that occur due to the nature of the activity.
- Alcohol and tobacco use are prohibited.
- Report any damaged equipment to Clark Management.
- Hanging from or grabbing basketball rims is prohibited.
- Volleyball pads are required on poles during play.
- Patrons must abide by the decisions of Clark Management.
- Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
- RIT is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Personal items should be kept in a secure locker.
- Pets are prohibited except for personal access. Team activities are prohibited in the Aux Gym without the presence of a coach or certified instructor.

Frank Ritter Ice Arena 
North of Clark Gymnasium, the arena is a venue for ice hockey, figure skating classes, and recreational skating. It serves as the home of RIT's hockey teams as well as the Genesee Figure Skating Club.
Frank Ritter Ice Arena Policies
- No one is permitted on the ice when it is being resurfaced.
- After resurfacing, enter the ice only after the Zamboni doors are closed.
- Use the doors provided for easy access on and off the ice.
- Sitting on the boards is prohibited.
- Street shoes, sleds, pushing bars, wheelchairs, etc. are prohibited on the ice.
- Food, drink, chewing tobacco and gum are prohibited.
- Pets are prohibited.
- Use of a helmet for children 5 years and younger is strongly recommended. (A bike helmet is acceptable).
- Never carry children while skating.
- Do not enter coned off areas.
- All skaters must skate in the same direction.
- Weaving in and out and cutting between other skaters is prohibited.
- Snowing other skaters is prohibited.
- Throwing snow is prohibited.
- Excessive speed while skating is prohibited.
- All electronic communications are prohibited while on the ice.
- Follow all Rink Staff requests. Their job is to provide a safe and enjoyable skating environment.
- Please be considerate of all skaters.
- Skaters assume all risks of injury sustained while participating in and/or observing ice skating.
- Non-compliant individuals may be asked to leave the facility or may have privileges suspended.
