AWARE-AI NRT: Fall Mentor Café

Hosted by the AWARE-AI NSF Research Traineeship (NRT) Program, this Mentor Café event welcomes NRT Trainees and other RIT graduate students. Participating students will have the opportunity to interact with postdocs and early career researchers in a fun and interactive format.

Center for Leadership and Civic Engagement Leader to Leader: In person

In today's competitive job market, employers are looking for candidates that are not only competent in their area of study but also hold a variety of other skills. This session will allow students to connect with and learn from a panel of RIT Alumni and young professionals to understand their experiences as they transitioned from student to professional and also offer insight into how students can plan and work towards their professional goals.

Graduate Student Community Engagement Event

October 30, 2022
7:30 am - 10:00 am

Location: Strong Museum of Play, 1 Manhattan Square Drive, Rochester, NY 14607

Rochester Institute of Technology and University of Rochester graduate students have the opportunity to collaborate with Foodlink Community Kitchen, an organization that prepares thousands of meals each week for elementary and high school students in need. Volunteers will disassemble elaborate can structures and place them into their appropriate categories for transportation to Foodlink. Afterward, students are invited to Spot Coffee (200 East Avenue) for an optional social gathering.

Students are responsible for transportation to and from the event.

2023 Graduate Education Week Poster Design Contest

Graduate students are invited to create a design for this academic year’s Graduate Education Week that celebrates the creative, innovative, and entrepreneurial research of RIT graduate students. This year’s theme is One World: Fusing Science, Technology, Art, and Engineering.

Prize: $250 VISA Gift Card

Visit rit.edu/graduateschool/2023-gew-poster-design-contest for eligibility, requirements, and details.

The submission deadline is Friday, October 28, 2022, at 11:59 PM EST.

Two RIT cybersecurity professors win Meta Research Awards

Yidan Hu and Ivan De Oliveira Nunes have each won Meta Research Awards for their cutting-edge cybersecurity research. The assistant professors of computing security are working to protect people’s safety on their augmented reality and smart devices.

Winter Wear Clothes Drive Sponsored by Woman in Graduate School 

Women in Graduate School (WIGS) is collecting winter wear to help new graduate students who don’t have the resources to buy all the necessities.

The primary drop-off collection is the Graduate School Office (University Services Center, Building 87, Office - 3100). Other drop-off boxes can be found at Gosnell, Hugh Carey Hall, and Golisano. The donation deadline will be Monday, October 31st. 

Please donate new or gently used winter wear such as coats, scarves, gloves & boots. Graduate students will be invited to pick out donated items on a first-come-first-served basis. Leftover items will be donated to a local charity to help those in need.
