Experience Technically Speaking at RIT

A Class That Simulates a Professional Agency

Technically Speaking is RIT’s student advertising and public relations agency, a class that runs like a real agency. Here, you’ll collaborate with teammates, work with real clients and bring creative ideas to life.

We’re looking for curious, creative and motivated students ready to turn classroom learning into professional experience.

 

What You'll Do

You’ll take on real projects from building brand strategies to producing content that makes an impact. Every semester, you’ll:

  • Plan and pitch campaigns for real clients and organizations
  • Design visuals, write copy and manage social media
  • Work directly with clients and industry mentors
  • Experiment with tools like Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, AI platforms and more

 

Course Options

                               COMM 430 / 431 – Ad & PR Agency Workshop (3 credits)

  • Full agency experience for Advertising & PR majors (or related fields)
  • Real client projects, leadership roles and portfolio development
  • Weekly all-agency meetings and team collaboration
  • Prerequisites: COMM 211 - Principles of Advertising or COMM 212 - Public Relations

                               ITDL VIP 610 – Vertically Integrated Project (1–3 credits)

  • Flexible credit option for students from any college or major
  • Choose your level of commitment (1, 2 or 3 credits)
  • Work alongside agency teams while fitting the course into your schedule

Following is a general overview of the time commitment required based on the number of credit hours:

  • One credit: One day in class and three additional hours of work per week
  • Two credits: Two days in class and six additional hours of work per week
  • Three credits: Three days in class and nine additional hours of work per week
