Adjunct Professional Development Grants

The Office of the Provost and Faculty Career Development created the Adjunct Professional Development Grant to provide funds for adjunct faculty to be used toward their professional development, such as attending conferences, workshops, meetings or delivering presentations as a means to further their expertise in teaching at RIT.

Eligibility

Adjuncts at RIT may apply for up to $500 in funding, once per academic year. To be eligible for this funding you must have taught at RIT for at least two semesters and will be continuing as an adjunct instructor at RIT (to be verified by department head). 

Application Process and Guidelines

You must submit your application online along with a Verification Form from your department head/chair. Applications considered without a signed Verification Form will not be considered. Applications will be accepted online until Monday, November 6, 2017 at 5 pm.

Application materials:

On the application you will provide:

  1. A description of the professional development activity for which you are seeking funds (250 words or less).
  2. A description of how the funds will further your development and/or teaching. Clearly state the connection/benefit of your request for funding to your professional development and expected impact on student success, faculty success and/or the campus community (250 words or less).
  3. An itemized budget. General requests without a breakdown of requested funds will NOT be approved. All RIT policies must be adhered to for the use of these grant funds.  Click here to view RIT's Travel Policies & Procedures Manual. 
    • If you are applying for conference registration, a workshop, or a professional association presentation, the URL from the event is required on the application.
    • Meals or travel expenses will not be funded.
    • Funding for software/hardware acquisition or other equipment, professional membership fees or licensure, tuition, or additional faculty salaries will not be considered.

Funding Decisions and Reporting Requirements

Proposals will be reviewed by a selection committee, and recipients will be notified by December 1. If you are awarded a grant, you will receive instructions for accessing funds and reporting on the use of your grant. 

We would like to share your experience and request that all grant recipients help disseminate their results by completing a brief report as soon as possible following the project’s completion; your outcomes may be used on the FCDS website or other materials.
